Guys I had an idea to replace evrything that glows red in the car w/ Blue LED...not sure if this is possible, but if it is it would look great w/ the blue theme I have going on....I'm not talking about the interior lights(dome, map, hatch, etc..) b/c I have that already...I'm talking abou the A/C controls, maybe the gauges, basically everything that has that red trim around it, I want i tto be blue...any idea on how to do this???

It's been done by many members. Check the How To section and/or do a search and you should get some answers that way. :) I'd help but I really don't know how to do it. (shrug)

Edit: My bad, I didn't realize this was the 3 How To section, lol. There's got to be someone who's done this already. Sorry!

i'm sure it is possible, they r just lights, but to find them will be a b****

I don't think they are just red lights, i think the red is in the plastic peices themselves. That's how it is on earlier Mazda's.

thats what I was wondering....I did some readin gon a post "zapper" made about doing this to an "03 protege"...but there's no way in hell I could do all that...i thought is was as simple as just tearing the thin gapart and replacing a bunch of bulbs...maybe modifying some of those plastic pieces....but I either need a great walkthrough..or be directed to an extremely reputable shop that can do this....I could see myself frying all the controls....

My ideal thing would be to make the gauges all blue( vs. the red/blue thats on there now), make the a/c controls have a blue glow(vs. the red glow thats there now), and the radio controls Blue (the 2 tuning knobs, and the light that goes from left to right right by the volume control).....

usually the lights behind the dash are just plain white bulbs. its the actual plastic that makes up the displays that has the color. i really dont know of any way to chance the color.

Man, this would be real hard to do, and I understand you want a "blue theme", but the red looks so good? I'd never change it, I love the red.

I hear ya, I like the red too....but everyone likes the red and will most likely keep it...so me going w/ blue should really set my ride aside...plus I already started going w/ the blue theme...Dome lights, calipers, and I have an engine dress up kit at hom as well.....Do you guys think it'll look bad if I continue w/ the blue theme and just leave those little reds there?? I mean it doesnt look bad IMO, but I dont know how much they look at that in car shows and such....anyone want to chime ii, please do!

on the protege's with red gauges, its plastic in the gauges and what-not that's colored amber, so changing the lights to blue did not work in these cases. The ones where it did work had the green gauges, so the blue would show through since green and blue are very close.

that being said, all you can do is try it. the 3 could be different. much luck.

I like how there are subtle blue accents already on the car, but my car is red on the outside, along w/ the red seats and lighting, so any other blue wouldnt work too well for me.

What would look good on your car is changing the side mirrors to the tinted blue glass...why doesnt the 3 have that stock?!

the 3 isnt different, i know u have a protege but this is for TGV so dont think im jumpin down ur throat. i reallly dont think this will work. i was lookin at the display in my car a little while ago and it looks like most of the stuff would involve changing the plastic to a different color. and look at the rings around the heat and AC controls, those look like they would have to be replaced. you could probably get like half of the lights changed to blue but then the rest would be red. also the clock display is gonna be red as long as its hooked up. so....u wanna try then go for it and let us all know if it works out. good luck man (spin)
