New windshield order wont be coming until Oct 17, according to Geico and their glass company. Should I get in touch with Mazda and ask about it? 2014 CX5

Did you get a quote form safelite? They usually have quick service.

If you want OEM, that is what the times seem to be running. Other people have made posts on here about a long wait too.

Is there really a value to getting an OEM windshield? I had a Honda windshield replaced at the Honda dealer a couple of years ago, and they outsource all glass work to an independent shop. As long as it's guaranteed and from a well known company, I wouldn't think it matters. But I could be wrong...

Installer =/= glass. I had the windshield replaced on my BMW by Safelite, but they used OEM glass with the BMW logo on it. It's normally more expensive, but since you normally do not have to pay anything for a windshield replacement I would always try to go with OEM.

I think windshield replacement is often outsourced from dealerships regardless of the make.

The question here appears to be OEM glass or aftermarket. I know when my Volvo needed a new windshield due to a rock hit the OEM glass was far superior. Aftermarket glass was not even available that had the infra-red reflecting coating that the Volvo came with. This is like a built-in 3M metallic film without the plastic film that keeps the car substantially cooler. Of course most manufacturer's don't even offer this (including Mazda). Still, I would lean towards OEM glass, it's highly unlikely you'll get better glass elsewhere. The wait is no big deal - I've gone years before with a cracked windshield, after a few days you won't even notice it.

try apple autoglass.. They were a good $100 cheaper them most places when I had my windshield replaced on my old matrix.

Geico's company is Safelite

Im not required to pay. It's not urgent, and if it means OEM I'll continue to wait.
