cpe-e TowPlate?

Hmm, I just don't know if I like it or not. On the one hand, it's out of the middle, which I like. Then again, it sort of messes up the clean lines on the left hand side of the car.

@ jam_asian85, thanks for the pics! That's exactly what I was looking for... I couldn't really tell how it would look from cp-e's site. This really helps. Must say I think it looks hella nice and I'll be getting either the cp-e or the RHO.

@ Kain, thanks for the heads-up on the possibility of having to remove the front bumper cover. That doesn't sound like fun.

And now for a potentially dum question:
My MS3's in the body shop still so I can't go look at the bumper, but do our cars have a removable tow hook cover. I presume they do but I don't remember seeing one (can't say I've looked to carefully yet either).

I'm gonna shoot a mail @ cp-e to check on that bumper cover removal question. I'll post when they reply.

That's not really a dumb question, I didn't know how to open the tow hook cover until a salesman (yes a salesman actually knew his stuff) showed me. =)
You put the key in the little divot that's in the cover and then just push the handle of the key upwards. The leverage will pop the cover out. I was scared it would scratch the paint but when he did it, there were no visible scratches. On my own car, I would still use something other than a metal key or get a thin cloth to cover the key first.
The cover doesn't detatch, it folds downwards and into the bumper. This way you won't lose the cover.

Kain I don't see why you would have to remove the bumper, shouldn't the plate just screw into the tow hook hole?

Here is another thread about the tow hook. Sorry it doesn't show the cover.

This is what I was told by Anthony @ CP-E when I was there and saw the prototype. Whether that has changed since, not sure.

Even though this is what I want, I see no problem with mounting the plate in the center. It delivers cleaner lines on the car around and adds symmetry to it. My only issue with the stock plate holder is that the damned thing is huge! I mean there's more than 1/2-3/4 of an inch around all the sides and it looks terrible. I mean, if it was the exact size of the license plate or like the old Volvos where they had a skeleton of a plate holder on the front and back but the rest was all plate then it would be fine. But I want to see my car's paint, not some cheap looking black plastic crap.
That's my rant/.02.

Technically if I got out the Dremel and went to work on it...hmmmm...

i was looking at this. there was a small likelyhood i would get layed off a week ago and if that happened i was going to move back closer to home and i would have needed to get a front plate and i was not going to drill any holes. really sweet i have to remember this incase i need to get a front plate.

I always find making unnecessary purchases upon being laid off a good thing.

only problem i had was the powder coat was too thick so we had to use a metal file on the frame to get it in and we had to file very very little but thats what i needed to get it in so thats y i had to take off the bumper
