CP-E Intake 6i

Sorry for the newbie question

Hi guys, I am coming from the longtime TAURUS SHO ownership, and was wondering what made this intake more superior to the cheaper ones that I have seen on ebay? My wife and I are pondering a 2004 6s purchase and were wondering if there were any tranny issues, performance upgrades, and better dyno results from the very little gains that I obtained from the Taurus sho that I owned and invested nearly $10g into.....

Thanks.

CP-e intake has cumputer chipp to re map the fuel trim and alow you to run a larger piping than injen/aem/K&N/Auto Exe/Weapon R intakes. Thats the reason it costs...If you aren't like me with a really sensitive pcm that gives me cels for the intake then you are ok to ignore the intake and get the cheaper ones.

That is only for the 6s (v6 model).

The 3s/6i unlike the 6s, have half-way decent fuel trims. I think you guys dip down into the 12-11's at max rpm...the 6s dips down to around 9.7:1. Big difference in produced power between a 9.7:1 AF and 13:1 AF :)

So, if I do purchase the 6s 2004 model that I am currently looking at, then this intake would indeed be worth it?

The 03/04 V6's get around 20 more whp and 20 more ft/lbs of torque from the intake/chip. The CP-E for the v6 (6s) is the highest bank for your buck performance mod available currently. Headers add less and cost more, catbacks add little to none and cost almost as much.
