CP-E exhaust or HKS exhaust

Hey guys,

I am thinking of pruchasing a new exhaust in a few days. I was just curious which exhaust will better out of the noted brands.

HKS catback paired up with TurboXS downpipe/midpipe combo sounds amazing, has nice deep rumble to it. I'd love to get HKS catback, but I'm still trying to justify the $500 purchase.

would have to vote HKS but I am complete HKS freak for a long time, love their work.

As much as I want the HKS catback I'm about to buy CNT instead. Same sound I'm going for and it's $200 cheaper!! Look into it here http://www.cntracing.com/CNT_RACING_07_08_Mazdaspeed_3_catback_Exhaust_76m_p/cb-mazda3.htm

Edit: Just pulled the trigger on CNT catback, $329.00 & free shipping!

Good choice. Power or no power, for that sound with that price is a no brainer. I'm not feeling how the tip comes out in a 30 degree angle though. No biggie really. Who knows I might pull the trigger soon too. I thought I could use some sound cuz at normal speed there ain't nothing going on there. zzzzzz

Hey guys,

I picked up a used CPe exhaust system in mint condition for a good price. However, the exhaust system did not come with the bolts to install the exhaust system. I was just curious will home depot have the bolts or am I better off to just have a custom muffler shop to do the intall.

Ya home depot or any other hardware shop should definitely have them. You should be able to reuse the stock bolts/springs that connect the cat-back to the lower downpipe or test pipe too

if not home dePot then ACE, they are a bit more expensive but have a better range of bolts and nuts

Neither Home Depot or Lowes for that matter have the correct bolts for our exhaust system. However, that doesn't mean you won't be able to find something there that will work. A while back one of the bolts connecting the TP the DP had its threads stripped. I bought a bunch of different size bolts/washers/etc. and eventually got something that worked.

Make sure you have gaskets, and something to cut the stock exhaust. Mazda was kind enough to make it one continuous pipe with no flanges/breaks. (notcool)

I finally got the cpe exhaust installed today and WOW what a difference. I didn't notice any change in the horse power department but it certainly made a difference with the throttle response with the cobb downpipe.

CBE making a difference in throttle response? Dunno about that. Yes, as to the downipe, but if you already had the dp, then changing CBE given the high flow rate of the stock CBE should not have anything to do with throttle response, IMHO. Placebo effect possibly? Changes in sound can seem like changes in performance.
