Couple of questions

I love this car. And can't imagine having gotten something else. Just a couple of questions, since I am only 2 weeks into owning the car, with 4K miles on it. I bought it used.
1. cruising around in second in a parking lot. Is the car suppose to feel so jerky. I mean if I take my foot of the gas at like 2.5K rmp, it jerks pretty bad, just not smooth in the least.
2. The engine has a loud ticking sound to it, and is amplified when I do so hard driving. Is that normal
3. whats the lowest I should cruise in a gear before I need to downshift. Is 2K rmp ok to do in sixth gear.
4. I know the suspension is stiff, and the car handles awesome, but I was wondering I feel everything little thing on grove in the road, my rear suspension seems insecure.
5. Pointers to get a smooth shift from 1-2 gear. I've tried no gas, a touch of gas , a good amount of gas a still get a little jump to the car. Im guessing its just the speed in which I lift my foot off the clutch. But I feel like I have to baby it in to get it smooth.
6. Being that I bought the car used is there anything I should check for off the bat. Things I should tighten down or make sure is normal.
Any or all these questions addressed would be great. Thanks for all the help.

1. I feel some "jerky" to it sometimes, I think it might just be the nature of the car
2. never heard a "ticking" sound from my engine
3. after getting a dashhawk and watching a few parameters, I cruise at just about 2,000, maybe a touch lower if I can keep constant speed on flat surface. I don't usually go lower because I never realized I was wasting gas staying in the higher gear
4. my rear doesn't seem as connected either, but again, I believe it's the nature of the vehicle. I am used to a LOW Integra that gripped like a magnet and felt fantastic, but this is a completely different car
5. I have never driven a car with a naturally smooth N-1 or 1-2 shift. I CAN make it smooth, but it does take concentration. Just keep working on it, in a few weeks you will get it perfect and you will start doing it without thinking. Maybe try lifting the clutch pedal slower??
6. I would say number one check the torque on the rear motor mount (and at the same time install corksport motor mount inserts for $30). Everyone says this is how our car should have rolled out of the factory and I completely agree.

Do you have any specific plans for it in the future? Performance or appearance mods?

Welcome to the family!

where did you buy your car from??? i would recomend taking it to a dealer about the ticking there is a technicle document about a proplem withthe valve train. you can inprove the shiftiny with changing traqnny fluid to a full synthetic oil and there are shifter bushings that help or you can fill in the current shifter bushings and the corksport MM helps out with some of the veauge feeling a full MM will help out.

the 1-2 gear is rough on our cars! u really have to tryin to keep it pretty smooth! i can drive a stick i have worked in a body shop for 5 years and i have a diverse background on different manual trannys! it takes some getting use too!

For the insecure rear axle...maybe check/lower the rear tyre pressures?? Are the tyres ok?? The stock Potenzas are a bit twitchy some times, so maybe it's a combination of several little things.

And I agree that it's a time thing to get the shifts just right. You'll read here that at some point between the 07 and the lastest 08 models (aka 08.5), there was a clutch change/redesign, witch made it a bit easier to use, so don't worry if you read here in the forums that the clutch is real easy, 'cause for shure you'll find people with 07cars that say the opposite. To get the shifts just right, I agree in that you might want to lift the foot of the clutch a little slower and see how it takes it, though with the Speed's engine, there shouldn't be the need to give it a lot of gas.

Have fun!

appreciate it. Ya the rear suspension is bothering me alot. I go obver big bumps or even little ones and it when my rear lifts up and comes back down there is a band like somthing came crashing down a bit. I checked the spare to make sure nothing was moving around and all that. I'm taking it into my dealer tomorrow for the rear suspension and the loud ticking Im hearing
