So i purchased my 2003 Black Micah Msp back in early October, over the winter months my car started to make a ticking noise, as i have posted some threads saying this. Didnt think too much of it, thought it was possibly a valve sticking, let it go for a little bit. When May roled around i start to get a little worried as it starts to get louder. So I take my MSP to a guy i know and trust that works on engines. Pulled the head off and found the solid cam followers werent tuned at 60,000 miles which someone told me is a good thing to do, then he pulled the injectors out and im asumming the MSP injectors are suppose to be one color, well there are two colors in mine 2 green and 2 blue. Ok, thats not so bad, so he pulls the block out, finds pieces of bearings in the oil. Then he gets the oil pan out even more pieces of bearings. Takes the pistons, rods and crank out well we look at the rod bearing on piston #4 and it basically was bearing flaking off of itself, so that is somewhat bad news but not too much. Im just glad i caught it in time and didnt throw a rod or something horrible. sorry such a long post but thought i would share it with you guys. I will see if i can post some pics of everything monday or tuesday b/c i will be gone for the weekend.

The two different injectors are normal. Something about the angle of the spray or something...I can't remember but they both flow 280cc.

Wow good thing you took it to get inspected. My friends would have just turned up the stereo until it stoped running. Well now you have the oportunity to get it built.

Yeah, the two diff injector colors is correct. And sure, build it while it`s out sounds like a good idea. But, know anywhere to get some pistons on short notice? I waited more than 5 weeks. If you can, go ahead and build it with the whole shi-bang + toga bearings.

oh and go ahead an order some oil squirters from mazda, those will probably have to be replaced since the motor is gettin overhauled. thats not a re-use part.

sorry i havent replied yet, i was in cleveland for the weekend. The ticking noise sounded like it was coming from around the head at first, but it almost sounds like it could of been a valve noise, but they did find 2 bolts to the exhaust manifold missing so that may have caused the loud ticking.
