could we use the Mazda3 2.3L engine?

mmmm Focus RS.

Instead of RX8 why not the 20B...mmmmmm "The Mazdaspeed Protege 20B" yummy.

No, its a turbo'd version of the Zetec, which is called Duratec over shores, not the SPI.

Although back in the golden days the SPI used to be called CVH but it was only like 1.6l or 1.8l. They used a turbo version of it in the Escort RS and Fiesta RS.

isnt the ztec engine pretty much the same?
i dont know, so dont flame.

or it's at least close to 2 liter mazda engine?

i know it's stronger than what we got.

It was me who bought the 2.3L motor and tried it in the MSP....will not work without serious modification BUT IT WILL WORK. It takes a lot of time and customizing of every bracket, line, and mount. Most deffinatly not worth the time and money invested.

I thought so as they look similar (not detailed...) and from what I read somewhere but searching through the forums here the fsde and the zetec engines share nothing in common.

redrims: see the attached file - a big block in a civic. (sorry to add nothing to this post, but I just had to share this picture...) I wish the 3 engine was easier to move over, but the reversal of the engine with the exhaust mani in back (go figure) just makes it too tough to do. *sigh*
