Correct? Mazda 2.3L and Ford V6?

I'm gathering bits and pieces of info here and the net and I'm trying to answer this question: who makes which engine in the Mazda6?

Is this correct?

Mazda: 2.3L i4
Ford: V6

What about the transmissions linked to them?

Also, where are the cars themselves manufactured? I read that it is "detroit" but are ALL Mazda6 models manufactured there? (looking for a 6 hatch) I read that the Mazda3 5dr is manufactured in a different location than the sedans.

all i know is mazda 3i is assembled in japan and our motors are ford but assembled in germany, which i love b/c i have a japanese car (birthday)

The 6i is a ford duratec block, the 6s is a ford duratec block.

The v6 is basically a 3.0 duratec clone, with the latest revision of all components (very stout), with mazda's VVT.

The I4 is a 2.3 duratec, with some mazda tweaking in the internals and heads. But basically its a mirror image of the 2.3 duratec.

The Mazdaspeed 6 is the I4 2.3 Duratec block, but everything else is completely mazda.

Here's info on all the transmissions.

As for where its built...The 3's built in Japan, the US 6 in Michigan. Ironically, the 3 has more tsbs and mri's then the Mazda 6 does...so JDM build quality isn't as far off US quality as it once was.

Ford makes the V6 engines and Mazda Makes the 4 Cyl.

So Like the Mazda B-3000 Has a Ford engine in it.

the 2.3MZR is ford...intake technology and minor things are added /revamped are done by mazda. Pull the car apart and you will find Mazda, Mitsu Motors, and FoMoCo all over. If it was a 100% mazda 2.3, cosworth would have had nothing to do with us from the jump off.

I hate to break it to you guys, but the new 2.0 and 2.3 are ALL MAZDA. Mazda designed, engineered and built(in a Mazda anyway). Ford had a vested interest in these engines of course, as they are slapping 'Duratec' on them and using them in everything from Rangers(and B2300s of course) to the new Focus which is already out in Europe. Ford's involvement in this engine was through Cosworth, whom supplied their FI block casting technology to Mazda, which was further refined by Mazda. Because Ford plans to use 2 million engines over the next several years, and the Minami-ku engine plant in Hiroshima can only produce 425,000 in that period of time, there are also plants in Spain, Mexico and the US. Obviously it makes more sense to ship an engine within the continent of where the car is being built. Engines for Escape and Focus are built in Mexico, engines for the Ranger/B-Series are built in Dearborn.

Because Cosworth had an early involvement in the engine, and because of Ford's intention to make it a truely 'world' engine, showing up in many products, they lead the way with aftermarket internals.

I'm sure Ford had quite a bit of input on the engines, however, as they had to make sure they fit their needs.

All engines are duratec engines with mazda intake technologies. Reason the foci and taurus parts are interchangable to a point. If you don't beleve me ask the people who has done oil changes to find a mazda sticker over the FoMoCo labels on the boxes and plastic baggys. Since 96ish ford and mazda love using the same stuff inhouse when they can cause it's cheaper than starting from ground zero. Overseas foci st got the inline 5 from volvo.

per invoice

Engine :mexico
Tranny :Japan *except asin 6spd sportshift tranny

C'mon man, don't make me insult you. 6 cylinder engines are Ford. Zetecs are Ford. All new Ford family 4 cylinder engines are Mazda designs. The entire thing. This has nothing to do with 96 Fords, we're talking 2002+ Rangers/B2300s, '05+ Foci etc.

Well aware the 3.0 is ford. I'm saying the 2.3 isn't entirely not ford.

to clear up what I already said
Since 96ish...
