What do you guys think of the Corksport products? Is it high quality? Currently, Corksport is developing an air intake specifically for the MSP. I was wondering if I should wait until it is completed or should I go ahead and by the Injen version. Also, I'm looking to buy some good engine mounts. If anyone knows where I can purchase some very good engine mounts, I would truly appreciate it. In terms of priority with my questions, the Corksport questions take precedents. Thanks fellas.

If you are looking for gains, do some research and build a custom one...The Injen piece has been proven to be very inafective at raising ouput...

I don't know yet what Corksport's will include design wise...so at least wait and see what happens...

Looks wise the Injen is good though, and may help with some sound issues...But I have never scene a dyno showing the Injen giving anything significant...

We haven't seen a dyno proving that the Injen loses power yet. Every one we have seen so far shows gains. Ion reported that in the new Turbo magazine coming out in March or so shows that intake brand "I" showed power losses, but no proof yet.

All I know is that dyno's say different. I'm tired of people posting opinions w/o data. Dyno's show the Injen is approximately 10hp.

The only thing I have heard about corksport are related to the slow shipment of imported products that they do not stock but still list on the website. That problem should not effect the upcoming MSP parts but who knows what type of production schedule or inventory they will run on those products.

If you are tired of people posting w/o data, then please do it...Show us a dyno read-out that yielded 10whp "approx" on an otherwise stock MSP...I never saw one, yet I haven't seen many at all...

Also I didn't say it didn't give any gains, just small ones...10whp is not very significant from an intake that replaces the stock system on a turbocharged car...Everyone I heard comment on it that owned one said they felt very little difference, some didn't notice any increase in power, just sound...

If in does create 10 more whp, than that is more than I had heard...So I apologize and that may be worth the price to some...

the shift knob i bought from them was a total piece of garbage. overpriced and not at all sturdy. my fingernail could remove the finish on the metal trim.

i like how they carry a big assortment of parts, especially JDM, but i think they're a little overpriced and a little overrated.

a cai for the turbo wont yield 10whp IMO, i never see drag cars at the track using cai's for their turbos so that should tell you something if it gave 10whp i think they would use it, untill i see a dyno readout on the same day they tested it stock then tested it with it on i dont believe it..if there is one, id like to see the link if you have it

10hp, not WHP. More importantly that is not my point. Posting opinion as fact is. Back to the topic at hand!

ok can you link the dyno graph of the stock msp then the msp with just the cai on it so i can see? and id assume this is the same car on the same day also

Yep you're right you won't see a DRAG car running a CAI. Because you won't see a DRAG car on the street (If you do, then that is really COOL!)

A CAI wiil reduce the chance of heat soak while idling at a red light, or in Stoopid hot climates because it is taking in air outside the engine bay where it's damn hot. It is a "STREET" application.

This would benefit the guys running a stock I/C.

Upgrade your intercooler and a CAI is somewhat redundant. (IMO)

Is that good enough?

10bhp isn't 10whp? You are one of the dudes that believes powertrain loss is a fixed percentage, I am not going to argue that right now...

http://www.mazdamp3.com/vbb230/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30648 If anyone is interested on the sides of the argument...

second, this is the point of the entire thread...he asked if the gains of the injen are worth it, or if he should wait for the Corksport intake...

You guys are right, I was incorrect...I apologize...I hadn't followed up on it lately, I do not own a MSP...I just noticed in the performance section that a lot of owners felt nothing, and a few tests of companies yeilded nothing...

Oiy! I'm done with this debate. There is so much opinion available on the forum on the matter of intakes. There is also some data. Your best bet is to read around the forum, get a good look at the products and make a judgement call based on your opinion. In general I think that if you are looking for the maximun bang for the buck exhaust is your best bet with this car (w/ the exception of a boost controller).

I would like to see some more feedback on corksport in general though. I really have heard nothing great about them and with the large number of "soon to come" msp parts it would be great to know what the general consensus is on there customer service.

I have ordered a pair of cams from them along time ago...And they were great about it...I got the parts in less than a week, and I live a country away pretty much...

the dude was very helpful on the phone as well, and talked about their upcoming (at that point) BP powered 3rd gen drag car or something...I thought in the end though they ditched that idea, and stuck with the FS...never heard anything more about it...

But I have heard similar complaints as you heathen...A lot of guys said it took forever to get what they ordered, and that if they tell you they need to have it imported, you may never see it...Paul had some gearbox issues forwarded to Corksport from his dealership or something, and it took months to get what he needed done...

So I guess it just goes with a grain of salt...Probably don't bother ordering anything if they don't have it in stock at the time you place it...Both cams I ordered they had in stock...and no problems for me...

But they have been around for a very long time, and do some pretty good work for the Mazda croud...
