Corksport / Unichip install results
so the boost is constant unless you turn off the EBC? can you rig it up such that you boost at a lower boost in map A and higher in map B? and do you plan on taking it to a unichip authorized tuner to get that knock fixed? Also.. 10-14 psi? is it a djustable? or diff for each unit or something?
Don't think so.

so how do you turn the boost controller off?
Our engines do not have a kkock sensor that retards timing, right?
My old Integra GSR did!
You have 3 switches, one switches power to the ECU to clear any MIL you might get. One toggles the boost controller on and off. The last switch toggles between map A & B.

so there are 3 switches,
- to switch maps
- reset ECU
- turn EBC off

is that right?

JFW what mods do you have. I know that map B is for modded cars meaning the air flow would have to be heavier than stock. Just a thought maybe thats why you ran ok on map A.

NO. Map B is just a little more agressive.

yeh the turbo is still pushin the same boost...just leaner mixture and advance timing possibly (dunno) sonic do u have knockin on the second map?

I need to get some colder plugs, still running stock.

The seat of the pants difference is quite noticable, as is the torque steer in first and second gear. You are right at the limit of traction with the hammer down on asphalt in first and second.
I PM'ed Ben and he has been running colder plugs with his car. I think that can make a bit of difference.

Mine should be here on Thursday :)

Just a Green flat panel airfilter, and a ground kit.

JFW, i bet the jump in power with a D.P. and intake would be quite staggering considering the boost levels your up to now.

That's what I'll be running so we'll see how mine turns out. I'm considering a FMIC since heatsoak will be more prevelant with higher boost and a warm summer ahead. I can already feel the power difference from when the car is just started to a 2 hour drive.

I wanna check out your car when you get the unichip in as well...I really want to check out how different it runs.

I will have it installed next week sometime. I'm not sure when the next meet is, but we could all get together and check it out. If it is easy to install, I wouldn't mind letting you use it for a short time if you want to test in your car. That would go pretty much for anyone in the Cincy area as well. I'm sticking my neck out a little since this is new and I want to help out anyone that might benefit.

YOu need to come up to our cruise ins on Saturdays here in dayton....I just really want a flashed ECU to test with at the track...I hate to flash mine and not be able to put it back if needed.I go to the dealer tomorrow too...I could have it done, but I better make sure first...there is no going back.

Matt

I'm flashed. Trade me some weekend. Just make sure I get it back before an autocross... unflashed autocrossing sucks ass. I've been much much happier since Mazda flashed me. ;)

I sent an email to Jack Freidman at Unichip last week and he referred me to Rob at Pineapple Racing for questions about this application. I called Rob and he told me you need a minimum of 95 octane to run map B, or the knock sensor will pull timing and kill the power. He also said it cures all of the driveability issues with the MSP. I'm waiting for more people to try them out before I get one though.
