CorkSport Products for the CX-5

Maybe this is a stupid question but please bear with me. I saw the video of removing a whole bunch of housing etc and replacing it with this small intake and cone shaped air filter. If, in fact this increases MPG and HP/TQ, why didn't Mazda make it this way in the first place? The cost difference couldn't be that much on a broad scale. I mean it seems just too simple to spend a couple hundred bucks and get better performance all around. There absolutely has to be a downside or Mazda would have done it, right? Does the CX-5 sound like a semi-truck or something after the swap out?

You hit the nail right on the head! Time and time again these items have proven not to add any significant usable rear/front wheel horsepower/ torque but only add more noise. Sometimes they cost you some low end torque, something you do not want to loose with this tiny 2.0 liter engine. You're better off not messing with Mazda's engineering if your goal is to gain more power without compromise. The argument that you'll gain any significant fuel mileage or efficiency is the same thing. You've already got the CUV with the best average MPG #'s on the market for a non hybrid. You'll save way more money adjusting your driving habits and keeping up on maintenance than you would spending $$$ and driving the same.

do dyno on exhaust, if Mazda did their HW, very little gained from exhaust, BMW is the same way. but if you add up, intake/exhaust and maybe Chip a solid gain can be achieved. we will all wait....

who resurrected the 6month-old thread?
CX-5 isnt high on Corksport's list of priorities anymore judging from other threads on this forum (some of this is self-inflicted).

6 months old or 6 days, doesn't matter.

Still waiting for my exhaust tips.

I've given up on their lack of communication, and purchased a front L/p bracket from Rho-Plate.
