Corksport Fmic

well i just finished installing my kit for my ms6, wasn't the greatest fitment but i got it all together. when i started it up the first couple times it died while trying to idle. after about the third time the rpms bounced around a bit then it levels out. did you have any problems like this? i am running recirc so i'm not sure whats wrong. it seems like anytime i start it up it will bounce around and then level. i have no CEL's.

i did have to use a 2.5" coupler in between the pipe off the turbo and the one that goes down in the fender cause corksport doesn't mention in the instructions that you need a new coupler for the turbo inlet to the turbo. so i called them up and they told me to just use one of the 2.25" from a tube that was easily accesible cause they sent me a new one for that spot. so i'm not sure if the 2.5" coupler there is causing sort of a bottle neck giving problems to idle. but i needed a coupler to put there for now.

so once it idled i took her out for a spin. got into some boost but once i hit about 12psi i got this weird squealing noise, i might also contribute this to that coupler or i might have a look at the pipe going into the throttle body and make sure that clamp is on right because the way the pipe goes from 2.25" to 2.75" its tough to get the clamp on right.

Since this 2.5 coupler is mounted downstream of the turbo, the Squeal is probably pressurized air (12 psi you say) escaping through a narrow hole. Also, when not under any boost, the car is probably sucking in air from this leak, which is throwing off your ECU because it is bypassing the MAF

naw it just takes the ECU a while to figure out whaqt is going on... it took my car a good 3 days to run perfect.

ok well i got 2 CEL's too. P2177 and P2187. I think i got one of them because the hose from the PCV vent was kinked. Might have caused some of my problems starting up and idling. I should be getting my new coupler from corksport tomorrow.

i'm not sure i like th 3" hump hose to connect the air box to the maf pipe either. thats what the guy i bought it off me sent me.

bit of an update. took everything apart and checked all the connections. i had a stripped clamp which was where i had a leak so i had to cut that clamp off and replace it. then i had to realign a bunch of the pipes and what not. started it up and it seems to be ok. idle still bounces a bit but i might need to re learn again since i disconnected the battery. i can now get on boost without hearing the squeal thank god. although i don't want to push it to much because i have some worm clamps that will need replaced once my new t-bolt clamps come. i assume as soon as my car learns about its new found goods it will drive normal, because i do get somewhat of a studder and the idle does bounce every once and a while, anywhere from 700-1000 now that i sealed up all the leaks, before it was 600-700.

turns out the problems i am having are due to the oversized maf housing. to fix this (laloosh actually did this first) i had an extra 2.75" coupler laying around, i cut it in half and trimmed off some so it would fit in the housing. then i cut out a spot where the maf sits. after that i put silicon sealant all around it so that it is held in place. let it dry for an hour and put the pipe back in my car and started her up. low and behold started up and ran like i never did anything to my car. currently corksport is working on a fix for this and i believe laloosh will be testing the fix on his car this weekend. my fuel trims were way off with out the fix in the maf housing so getting closer to stock size hepled around tremendously.

i already have a 3inch cp-e turbo inlet pipe. Now does this kit have its own turbo inlet pipe? Thats a pian in the butt for me if it does cause i bought the MazdaSPEED6 Nviscid Pipe and the SPEED3 XcelNAN0. I would hate to have wasted money buying those to products if i were to go ahead and purchase this intercooler. is there some sort of way i can reuse the turbo inlet pipe from CP-E because that was a giant pita to install the first time!!!???

yeah it does have its own inlet and intake. although i sold mine and did this...i'm using the cobb inlet and intake.

looks good..
i really like the stock looking tmic cover as the airbox... so does the new airbox work ??? better than a sf ??
