For anyone who has purchased and is currently using the Corksport Power Series Exhaust please tell me your thoughts on it as far as quality, sound & such. I'm thinking of getting this system for my MSP. I also understand that the 2nd O2 sensor will not be used. How did you remedy this? And have you had problems throwing a CEL all the time? All input is appreciated ...thanks!

CS exhaust is very nice system for a very fair price...I was very impressed with the quality, only thing is you'll have to bend the hangers to get it to fit right....though they deny it, I'm 100% sure it was built on a regular protege not a msp...other than the irritation of having to bend the hangers its a pretty good system. A little louder than it needs to be in my opinion but overall a good bang for the buck...As far as the second o2 sensor you'll have to get a mil eliminator(theres a thread in the how to section covering how to make it for $4) and you relocate it to go in the 02 bung on the j-pipe(you'll have to remove the bolt out of it first). However, you do not have to cut and lengthen the sensor wires as everyone will tell you. You can pull it up from the top of the engine and reroute it around the engine cover and down on the passengerside by the a/c compressor...if you have any questions or need help let me know we're both in the same area so....I had the system and did the 02 as above and never once threw a code, sold it to david(msp267) and did the same mil eliminator on his and he hasnt had any problems either....

no s***, i know what diy means, why the hell do you have to list all your "stats" to post
"DIY"

It is good quality. It was made on a regular Protege not on an MSP. Mine needed slight bending and I bought it used off of a 2003.5. So there are differences in any car. You can and likely will have to do it yourself. It is easy, took about 2 hrs for me including welding in a hiflow cat and o2 bung. When you get it just lay it out, look under the car and just think about how to do it. It isn't that hard. Most shops won't want to do it without the cat unless you find a ricer shop. They may do it.

It does make some noticable gains. This is my dyno from yesterday.

hehe i guess I should point out when I say I'll help, I'll show you what to do, you'll be the one getting dirty while I drink my beer (cheers) .... but I actually do like teaching people about cars, nobody ever DIYed it without first having someone show them the basics....you'll need a socket set, 2 jack stands, a jack, a flathead screwdriver, a big box wrench, and an 02 socket(you should have everything except the 02 socket, and if you dont you're going to need them doing anything on the car so buy them anyways). If I end up helping out I can lend you my 02 socket or you can pick one up for about $9 buck from AZ....

I don't know why people keep thinking the second 02 is not used. YES, YOU DO USE THE SECOND 02 SENSOR. It goes in the factory location of the sedan in the second part of the downpipe. That little downpipe piece is the SAME one that's on the non-turbo models.

Anyway, I've got the original system for the MSP on my car. It's been on there for over a year now. That system is the best bang for your buck hands down. We gained a peak of 7whp on a bone stock car.

Are you asking a question?

The author of this post said "I also understand that the 2nd O2 sensor will not be used." And that is why I said something about it.

Mmmm

well, there you go. easyer than you think. I know i dont have a welder so you should take that pipe to one before you start to have that bung welded in ther, and presto!! hand tools a blazing youll be done before your papa johns arives

Just use the hole in the second section of the stock downpipe...

Easy install, good exhaust. Now we need to convince Corksport to make the downpipe they promised so long ago...

good luck with that one, they promised parts for the mx6 crew way back in the day...4 years later still no progress, they're classic for dropping the ball half way through....i heard perrin and ********** have replacements due out here in a few weeks....

Has anyone with this exhaust system had a friend drive away while you are behind the car? Have your friend rip away in first up to redline and push the clutch in and also listen to the revs comedown. I also have thrown flames when shifting from first to second. This is confirmed because someone followed me and told me that. It was dark out but still that frickin rocks. It's the coolest sounding exhaust from a car I have heard in person. I threw a CEL but don't really care. Peace out.

I have it, also added a hi flow cat and O2 sensor bung to it.
It's a bit loud, but in a mean kinda way, not ricer loud.
I was running the MIL eliminator, but took it off when i had the cat added. The MIL eliminator worked fine. I also extended the O2 sensor wiring to get t to the new O2 bung.
The shop who added the cat (Essential Speed) kept praising the quality of the exhaust welds and finish. It looks looks awesome. The best mod i have done to my car by far.

It makes it easier for a company to make things when there is actual interest and response. Which there has not been for a very long time in the MX-6 world. The flip side to what you said is Mazda guys are classic for saying they want something and never coming through.

However, I will take partial blame for things taking so long at CS regarding MSP parts. The intake is pretty much finished as of now. They just need to be produced on a large scale. Hard pipes will also be coming out in the near future. They're be a spot to add an additional injector and additional BOV (search for posts I've started for more detailed information). I might also add that CS is moving as of any time now. They're new shop will be much bigger and there will be more space to do more projects.

*I do not work for CS any longer, I just help them prototype parts now for those who are wondering my involvement.
