Yes, they changed the design. It was, for several years, a two piece design (like stock) and it was possible to buy either piece individually. Then they changed the program, still offering a two piece solution but selling them only as a complete set. More recently they redesigned the downpipe to be one piece, perhaps to coincide with the release of their 80mm exhaust system.

So would having oem motor mounts with corksport and awr inserts all around be good enuf to use the corksport downpipe since you have to have upgraded mounts?

Yes. The original Power Series exhaust had a 2.4" (62mm) ID. The new exhaust is 80mm (3 1/8").

The original one was; I'm not sure of the ID on the new one piece. But is does appear to flare at the lower end, so it may be like the one they make for the Mazdaspeed 6 that starts at 2.5" and flares to 3" before it gets to the flange.

the new one does not flare. If you look in there section on this board it was been discussed. I was trying to convince them to make one that did flare to 3" but it hasn't happened as of yet, but I don't care anymore since I've got my PEP 3" on the way

Finally, CS changed their silly design.

Not really just removed the flange. To be honest the fact that it was a two piece was a good thing. You could just run a 3" Mid pipe that included the J section and mount that to the 2.5 upper half and have as close to a full 3" exhaust as you could get at the time.

their new downpies are one piece. so you would have to cut the j-section of the vibrant off. the old DP was two pieces, if you can score just the s-section, it will bolt up to the vibrant
