The car was back at Unichip last week to get more tweaks due to upgrades. At the state of dropping the car off it had an intake and exhaust system. Maps were created for those upgrades and the boost was increased to 10psi. At this point we ran out of fuel. New (bigger) injectors are now in the works. Once those come back we will be offering an injector package after the maps are made for them.

Here is the dyno chart of the car on 10psi, intake, and exhaust.
graph

After the fuel concern is taken care of the car will be then equipped with an Unorthodox Racing lightweight flywheel and racing clutch, J-spec intake cam, SR Motorsports adjustable cam gears, Indigo alt. and water pump pulleys, Unorthodox Racing crank pulley, upgraded intercooler, and a few other things. Also we are hoping to be able to increase the boost to 13psi. The goal is to run it near 270hp and have it be reliable and safe.

Corksport: Take the ".orig.jpg" off the link so it may work.

Edit: Good luck with meeting your goal!

This board doesn't like Imagestation for some reason...

Anyway, fixed now.

The link works now, it's taken from the product description off the Cork Sport website. So it can also be seen there.

Yup the link works. Just to clarify: The two runs are:

1) CAI, catback, 10psi
2) CAI, catback, 10psi, Unichip computer

?

I don't know exactly what they did at this point. I don't even have the car back yet. That was just emailed to me this morning.

sweet those numbers look nice. I wonder how will it fare with the early spooling of a larger down pipe.

Will you sell the up graded fuel package (ie fuel pump, Rail, and injectors)

The injectors will be stock replacements. They are actually very easy to change out also.

Before the car went in it had 216hp with just the Unichip unit. There was instant spool up and power. You could not tell it was a turbocharged vehicle.

I will report on the feel of the car when I actually get it back. :)

With those numbers sounds like you have a good goal there. And since most MSP users seem to want a reliable yet fast car (not all out dragger) you are going in the right direction to sell lots of em, including me :). Good luck with the future mods and keep us updated.

Yeah, I don't need to blow my motor and I'm sure most feel the same way.

270hp and consistant mid 13's in the 1/4 mile are the goals. Daily driven vehicle also. Hoping for around 25mpg. I don't know how gas milage is going to be now, however. I went from 23mpg to 29mpg after the Tuner Computer was first installed. And I'm sure it will be going down after bigger injectors too. haha

(by the way, I just saw the ProtegeFest coverage in Mazda Sport Magazine!)

Question, you mention you "ran out of fuel" Care to elaborate on this? I know the stock injectors, rail and pump are probably too small to run alot of boost safely and need help, but what exactly do you mean you ran out of fuel at 10psi...
Did the a/f lean out horribly? Ive run 15psi and the car was still pulling fine, no knock, cutting out or anything.
I probably stressed the system a little, and it wasnt the safest, but please explain.

Everything is monitored while it's on the dyno, no chances are being taken while building this part. It's all very conservative actually. If the A/F ratio gets to an area the tuners feel is unsafe, they shut it down. To run anymore than 10psi on the stock setup we have on this car right now would be risky.

Yes corksport I am very interested in this info. I've always had a plan for my car and you just basically said it. I've always idealy wanted a 260-300hp MSP that is completely reliable (loads of upgrades to make sure it is) and 13's (the lower the better.)

If you pull this off (sounds like you will) you will get a lot of business from me in the future. I was gonna try to build and design the ideal system on my own but if you do it so close to what I want (you are) Ill just buy all your stuff :).
