Hey, just wondering. When is it necessary to flush the entire coolant/radiator system with fresh coolant? its 3 years now i have the car, 46,000 kms ,needed any time soon??

Coolant should be replaced after the first 72,000 kms or 36 months (3 years). Then every 48,000 kms or 24 months.

Corrosion Protection.

It is 'almost gone' in three years.

Engineers went to college to determine what maintenance to perform at what interval.

Trust Them.

If you follow the directions in the manual though it only replaces about half of the coolant capacity. I think the Prestone backflush kit would be helpful for that reason. I followed the directions as stated in the manual and added the pre-diluted Prestone mix today. Should be good enough.

those flush kits you can buy from the parts stores are ok to use IF you dont keep the fittings on the car. you have to either cut or tape in the lines to the heater core. then you use the supplied fitting to get the old stuff out and new stuff in. but those plastic fitting are cheap. they crack and leak after short amount of time. so you use this kit, pleae remove them to prevent possible head aches. or you can take to a shop and they can use there coolant flush machine. and lastly you can do the poor mans flush. drain the radiator, refill. drive around for a day or two, and repeat. you get "most" of the cooland out, but its still mixed together so yo dont really know. still better then nothing.

Also, I was thinking in liters instead of quarts. The capacity of the cooling system is 7.9 quarts, and when I flushed it today I probably got about 5 out. That's about 63% which ain't too bad.
