Coolant bypass...mod?

I've had my TB coolant bypass in ALL winter long so far. No problems what so ever, and it has got pretty damn cold here on quite a few days. I think I'll just leave it in for good now.

It's probably for the Mazda Owners who live in like the artic...you wouldn't want that ****** freezing on the highway at 100 KM/h...

well damn this thread is hella old. i hope all the subscribed members r still here.

i understand the tweak and its logical enough to try. only thing stopping me is the caps for the valves on the TB and time. one hose has to be inlet and the other is the outlet? what im doing is basiclly connecting these to right?

on the 1.6l its made a bit dif. i can connect the two just by using one of the hoses from the in or outlet coming from the pump.

my question is cud i go ahead and use the one tube, and link the out and inlets on the TB together, or use caps? if caps what size r they again?

Haha. Yeah this thread is a little old. I don't have a mazda but with mine I just conected the inlet and outlet together with one piece obviously. Then I capped off the two ends going into the throttle body. I just bought the caps at pepboys.

why buy while u can connect with one tube

I was just telling you what I did. The hose I took off wasn't long enough to connect the two so I bought some heater hose from pepboys and blocked off the part going in and out to the throttle body.

I just left my TB inlet/outlet uncapped. Why bother? I'm not going to use it again, and it's only a passage. It's been that way for 3 yrs now.

i closed off the TB with one of the hoses left. i hear about people using it to cool there turbos. ur going to link the TB to the turbo? or the coolant to ur turbo? if ur linking the coolant to cool the turbo, why does it not "cool" the TB?

Because the TB doesn't have incredibly hot exhaust gases going through it.

Your thermostat keeps your coolant at something like 170 degrees(don't know exact number), so your TB is probably already cooler than that.
