Controls by the shifter...

I noticed that in a lot of the interior pictures for the new Mazda 3, there are a set of controls placed directly to the right of the shift boot in the car. Does anyone have any idea what these controls are for? They look pretty high tech and so I was just curious.

The new manumatic system on the M3 looks pretty cool. It seems like they upgraded it a lot and optimized certain shift patterns. I wonder how much power loss we'll see in the automatic transmission this time. I wonder what they did to make the automatic for this car so light, the specs say that it's only about 10 or 15kg heavier than the manual. For the FS-DE, the power loss with an automatic is almost unbearable...

Those controls in the picture are for the navigation system on the European spec cars.

where did you hear it's Euro only? We're getting the navi system too!

US-spec will have NAV as an option on the 's' trim sedan and hatch models.

Canada won't get it at all.
