Black on black sport, AWD, 8-way drivers seat, cargo mat and cover, all weather mats, bumper guard, Sirius, Remote Start, Homelink/compass mirror, 4600 miles.

For about $50 more per month, but I can bury most of my negative equity since it's used and I'm getting it for around $23k where it was originally $27k new..... I owe 18k on the 5 and it's worth MAYBE 14k

Pros: All the options listed, AWD (was GREAT in the snow this weekend!), bigger (in the front anyways), taller (wife feels safer up high), better resale value (so far), quicker, worth about what I'll owe on it. And the wife LOVES it, HATES the 5.

Cons: No 6-disc (can be added of course), premium fuel, worse MPG, has Goodyears (tryin to talking them into swapping Bridgestones instead off another used 7, we got like 10 left), smaller in the back, costs more.

Anything else I'm missing here?

Is it worth it?

I also noticed there's a air leak near the front lower edge of the door that kept my left calf cold this morning... common issue? I'll bring it up with service if I buy it. Also has a pull to the left and needs the MSP13 performed for the gas cap.

I'm all about the CX-7, but negative equity suxs. That said, if you are willing to take that on, none of your other cons seems like a deal breaker to me. I love my car...

I meant I HAVE alot of negative equity in my 5, and I can hide most of it in the 7.

I just hate to spend MORE per month when I'm already gonna be spending more for gas, and mroe often.

And realistically... nothing is wrong with the 5.

But the CX-7 sure is nice..... :)

I think that says it, do what the boss orders (yes). My wife doesn't like the 5 either, but it's my daily driver after she turned it down.

Yeah she keeps wanting me to get rid of the Vic so she can give ME the 5 and get something else.

If you can eat the negative equity, by all means get the CX-7, invest in better tires, those Turanza's are not that much better than the RS-A's.

my friends brand new cx-7. the tail pipe has black carbon deposit in it. The Mazda5 on the other hand, the tailpipe is clean. Might be something to check out for. Don't know if this is normal with turbo cars.

That's normal. The engine runs rich to help prevent detonation. The side effect of that is the sooty residue on the tail pipes. Shouldn't be a cause for concern though...

Yup, and they updated the tip design for '08 so if you have a lighter color 7 and it gets soot on the bumper that can be changed out for the new design. Working at a dealer I get all the wonderful TSBs.

Anyhoo... here's the 7. Doing more paperwork, should be mine come lunchtime!

Getting rid of the Vic might not be a bad idea being a V8 and all...just something to think about...although I miss my Vic as well...it was a '90 PI as well but back then you could get it with the old 5.8L. I blew the engine racing it when I was 17...may she rest in peace.

Very nice! The lower door seals have a TSB for them to be replaced with an updated design, check the TSB thread and see if you need any of those done.

I am the TSB master! Had most of them done on my 5, some before I even had a problem. JUST IN CASE. Ehhhh... I work at a dealer so I have access to them all anyways. Don't recall (pun intended) seeing that one for the seals.

Bought it Tuesday night. Wife's in heaven. I'M OFF THE HOOK FOR X-MAS!!!!!!!!!

The Vic will blow away the CX-7 for mileage. I get 22-23 in the summer, and 18-19 in the winter. With my heavy right foot even. Plus I can fit more crap in the trunk than I could in the 5 so I'm sure it's no contest with the 7.
And it's more fun in the snow. No TCS or DSC to keep me from driving sideways! (drive2)

My work car is, and long have been, Crown Vics with police interceptor packages. They're out of favor now for gas tank rupture reasons. And of course, no longer available.

I've been offered Chevy Impala and Dodge Charger replacements but turned 'em down. I'll keep the CV 'till it dies (currently 195k), or burns to the ground. Best police car ever!

They still make the Crown Vic for fleet use...Taxi, Police, etc. That's what I'd take if I had my choice. Impala is too small and too weak in terms of the frame and suspension; the Charger is just fugly inside w/ poor visability.
