Considering trading for a MS6 (from S2000)

As an ex RSX-S driver, I have to say that the MS6 seats are, in my opinion, a little more "comfy" than "sporty". They're still good seats, but I would have preferred sportier ones.

As for gas mileage, it seems to vary a lot. I still do not know it's caused by what, exactly, but as for me, i'm averaging 15 to 16mpg, which is very low in my opinion. I drive about 350km/full tank (217miles), and the low fuel light's been on for about 10km (6 miles) at this point.

Let us know what will be your final decision, and good luck!

Ouch! Your mileage blows! I usually see at least 275 on a tank before the light comes on, and have went up 450 or so on a tank during a road trip.

A friend of mine worked at carmax and here is what he wrote when I asked him about it,
"carmax is like buying at a normal retail store - the price is as marked and they can't adjust it a single dollar. I agree, the prices are slightly higher than you might negotiate elsewhere, but you won't get a lemon - they really do make sure there were no significant accidents and refurbish everything before the car goes for sale. You can also transfer cars from other locations and you can always return the cars (I think within 5 days) if you don't like it. They are actually honest and try to make things right if you have a problem. Considering price, they will buy any car, but if you sell them a car you bought at car max they give you a little bump up in the price if you sell back to them."

Yeah, my roommate bought his RX8 at CarMax. He liked the fact that there's no games or BS, and that they really only sell the best cars there. I'm picky about small defects and I know they don't really sell cars that are beat up.

Also like the transfer ability.

Yeah, I know. Well, with the way it's going right now, I'm replacing a defective part every month, so my estimate is that I should have a completely rebuilt Mazdaspeed6 in about a year and a half.:D:D At this point, I should have solved my mileage issue. (bang) But from what I've read, I'm not the only one with very bad mileage. From what I can remember, I never passed the 250miles/tank barrier.

So hopefully, he's not gonna get one with such bad mileage, and unfortunately, there's no way to know unless he test drives it a whole tank.

I'm going a little OT here, but consider pulling your neg. terminal of your battery, running some Seafoam in your car, and doing a fresh oil/air filter clean/change. Drive it easy for the first 2-300 miles and see if that improves it.

Dumb question here, but how is 1st & 2nd gear WOT acceleration? My biggest complaint with the Speed3 was that you pretty much couldn't put your foot to the floor under 50mph or you'd just spin the wheels.

Have you looked at Biggers mazda in Elgin...I got mine there in late 06.
General sales manager was driving it around so it had almost 4k on it....so it was new but used.
Got it for under 20k...it's a velocity red 06 ..mine is a sport though.

The Speed6 does not have the limitation in the ECU that the Speed3 has for WOT in the lower gears. You can pin it and not have it fall on its face. What you can't do it dump the clutch or you will break things. Feather it and all is well, you will get a hellacious push in the back once you let it out all the way. I have had mine over two years and it still amazes me how hard it pulls. Not to mention how it amazes others who just see a mid-size four door family car. (wink)

Good to see some IL guys around. As for insurance I pay more for the Speed6 than the S2k, about $10 difference.

It's a bit of a wash, according to my agent. A tad cheaper on the Speed6.

I guess my question is whether or not 1/2 are totally worthless gears at WOT because of crazy wheelspin. The Speed3 couldn't run at WOT unless you were in 3rd gear, which is silly.

thats brutal bud. im getting 500-575km every tank. and thats very spirited driving

to op. i came out of a speed3 too and the ms6 is a much more grown up car. i like it more then the speed3. and the awd is fantastic.

I tell ya what....I bought my sp6 last year...it is a 07 sport liquid platinum bought with 11k miles for $19k. I thought it was a hell of a deal...I lived in SD at the time at bought it in Minneapolis. Never regretted buying this car as I enjoy just driving it everyday. When you feel like gettin on it it pulls you to the back of your seat....which makes shifting tricky at high rpm lol.

Man it is tough to find a decent GT around here. I've got some alerts set up from CarMax and AutoTrader.

Seem to be a lot of Sports. The only GT in the area in my price range has the hideous white/black leather interior. No thanks.

Perhaps I can ask a dealer to locate me one? Anyone have experience with that?

I had the same problem...finding a GT with all the options I wanted WITHOUT the white/black interior, and that was in late 2006. Seems the dealers here in Oregon ordered their entire stock with the 2 tone leather.

I had to negotiate with the dealership to get the leather and door panels swapped for black. It cost another $1000, but was worth not having to try and keep the leather white on a DD.

If you find a 2007 GT, it will only have black leather. The tuxedo leather was only available in 2006.

Hey

I am selling my car. I am in Milwaukee, WI and I soooo desperately need to get rid of it, I would be more than will to meet you in Chicago...I have a 2006 GT with everything except Navi and MP3. It has 22,600 miles and am willing to let it go for $19,500. If you still have not found one, please please please contact me ASAP. Thanks again.

(Mine does NOT have tuxedo leather, it's all black)

I know this is somewhat against Forum rules, but here is the add. (Mods, please be sympathetic, I am in a rough spot right now with work/family)

Please PM with interest ASAP

Luke, can you post a pic with the car in it in the thread for now, then put the sign in front of it later? I'm fine with that.
