considering a MS Protege

Here's how I am looking at it. I love my protege ES. Came with ABS and the Sunroof, very unassuming looking car. Cops don't pay me any attention, and little Johnny Ricer doesn't rev at me. I like it. It handles really well. If I wanted handling better than the MSP, I would just get the Eibach Pro Kit. As it is, my turbo will be on in time for Spool's open house, and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to match up pretty well against a MSP.

It's my only car, and I have a small commute that usually involves sitting in traffic for a while sometimes. The automatic suits my driving style. The sportshift option is there if I wanna use it, but I never really bother. I don't have to worry about anyone trying to steal my car, because it looks just like every other protege on the road. I wouldn't have it any other way.

With all the stuff I am learning from Perf and his partner Nick though, as soon as I pay off this car, I think I will be buying a 2nd car that has a manual transmission.

the kewl thing is, we all love our cars, and share information on how to enhance each others experience.

Once my turbo is on, I am looking forward to seeing how well my auto does compared to a stock MSP.

and once u blow your engine u're ****** cause your worranty was pissed away the minute you opened your hood.

Buy a 5-speed ES!

MSRP on MSP is $21,000 - and most people end up paying more than that. MSRP on the ES is $16,560 with a 5 speed. I picked up my ES w/Shifttronic Automatic for $15,300. Sticker on my car was $18,600
Spend the money you save on Eibach's Pro Kit ($250) or JIC Coilovers($440), and a real turbo setup($4000).

Just some bolt ons, nothing major as I want the warranty. With bolt ons I could esily change it back to stock for warranty purposes.

Also I will not pay above msrp for one, so it will take some looking around to find one. I think at the end of next week I will be going to look at them in Richmond, probably will not buy it until middle of July though, have to sell the other car first.

I will be going to Brown's Fairfax Mazda if neither of the two closer dealerships will sell at sticker. I have had good experience dealing with the brown dealerships. This past december we got a 2003 accord ex v6 sedan for like 23,900 +ttl when sticker was like 26,200.

Oh yeah I have another question will a regular mazda non mazdaspeed dealership do work on the car? Because the dealership here in town is not a mazdaspeed dealership and would prefer to not have to drive 60 miles for service, but then again I may have so much fun driving it that I wont mind driving 60 miles.

i just picked up my 2003 mazdaspeed this past saturday, nothing wrong with the hard, half done with the break-in.

this car is sooooo sweet. i love it. my end decision was the rsx-s and the mazdaspeed. i'm glad i went with the speed.
