Considering a Mazdaspeed3

Hi, I'm Sean. I'm from NH and I currently own a 2004 Honda Civic Si and I am currently looking into the possibility of buying a Mazdaspeed3.

I have requested a quote from 3 dealers and am awaiting responses.

I read online somewhere about a performance accessory kit, consisting of a Cold Air Intake, Catback Exhaust, Coilover Suspension, and Lightweight wheels with 245 series tires. It looked like it could all be purchased from and installed by a Mazda dealer for around $2k. Does anyone know if all of this is avaliable and whether the $2k estimate is accurate? If it is, it seems like a pretty nice value.

Is there anything I should be concerned about by purchasing a Mazdaspeed3 aside from the rear motor mount? I would be replacing that wthin the first month or so of ownership.

Thanks everyone,

-Sean

I believe that the dealerships switched the mount to one similar to the MS6 so I don't think you have to worry as much any more.

If that is the case I most likely would not bother with that then.

I did get a quote from a dealer today. $23,758 OTD was my quote, but I'm willing to bet it is a car that is on the lot with a number of miles on it.

A second dealer quoted me $25,020 OTD for a car that has just come in and has never been test driven.

I have not seen the mazdaspeed performance parts offered in any "package". If you have in fact seen those items for around $2k. I'd like to know where so that I can place an order. Just the coilover suspension and lightweight wheels cost over $2k together. That sure would be a screamin deal for everything for $2k.

The wheels alone will cost you more than $2k. You're better off buying something from Tirerack.

Actually ALL the parts from Mazda are ridiculously over-priced. Stick with aftermarket dealers.
