pentium 4 3.2 HT Extreme on a Intel D875PBZ Extreme Edition mobo w/ 2GB CORSAIR XMS Xtra-Low Latency 2-2-2-5 DDR PC-3200 ramzzzz

2mb level 2 cache on teh CPU?nice

i need DDR2 ram, latency's are the suck with DDR2, fastest I can find (what I want to get) is 4-4-4-8

I'm getting the regular 3.2ghz P4, socket LGA775, my mobo can support the new 3.46ghz p4 with the 1066fsb, but thats a $1000 chip, and whats the point when I can just overclock the hell out of the 3.2?

this is the heatsink I ordered

got it off some random site for $44.98 with free second day shipping, should be here wednesday. here it is on newegg http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-106-044&depa=0
I just need the processor to put under it :(

that sink is a monter, i hope its secured well if its going to be hanging out away from the mobo.

and yea you can take a 3.2ht up to 4.1, i've seen it done before. but then its gets all retarded over time and you blow a hole in the engine block etc

water cooling is teh wewt, planning on overclocking yours?

I'de like to run around 3.9ghz, watercooling is out of my price range so I figured get the biggest heat sink I can, I need to find some uber highflow 90mm fans to put on it

it is the wewt indeed, i've always wanted to do h2o cooling from way back in the day when it was made with tupperwarea and fishtank submersible pumps. plus its really quiet. i'm going to get water blocks for the cpu, mobo chipset, hard drive and lastly gfx chipset. it will be excellent. and expensive.

you can pull it off with hiflow fans, it will be loud i bet although i'm used to having multiple computers running here with junk ass fans aka white noise.

the computer I have right now sounds like a jet engine at take off, so it doenst bother me to much, although the new one has 5 fans just on the motherboard and 3 in the case, I dont think 2 more will hurt all that much :)

what are you using for a powersupply? my friend got me that 420watt for X-mas, I was thinking of getting somthing around 500, but 420 should be able to handle it, atleast I think it can

420??? U BIG STONER ARIC! no really, thats should be fine imo. i'm getting a fortron 400w, i don't need much else since this rig for the most part is non fan dependant

420 should be ok. Pick up a program called "thg_clock" from tomshardware.com and you'll be able to monitor your processor speed. That way you can tell if it's throttling back due to power loss.

Damn Matt you gots the pimp job? That's going to be a ******* awesome setup once it's finished! Why'd you go for the Extreme edition? Isn't that like 1-2k more?

forget tomshardware and their s***, get cpuz. it's the new version of wcpuid and is the defacto standard for cpu speed under windows. here: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

What's the weight on that thing??? - I'd be careful with that and how it attaches to the motherboard.

I'm a geek, but I work on machines all day - last thing I wanna do is tweak at home. I'm no stranger to tech toys - I've got a few machines at home with well over 2TB of storage. I have enough problems with the raid array. Next project is a dual cpu (most likely the new AMD dual core's) 4GB of ECC ram and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise.

wow... i just read this whole thing (very carefully mind you) and the only part I understood was the part where i rocked. :)
