I was down in Charlotte this past weekend for a wedding and took my car down. Well my uncle just got a Porsche Carerra last year and has done some mods to it (aero kit, GT-3 interior, forged wheels - 12 inches in the rear!, and a sport exhaust) and I was dying to drive it. (drive2)

his only stipulation to allow me to drive it was that I let him drive my car! what a bargain! First of all, his car is AMAZING! If I had 100K to spend on a car, it would be high on my list. But the real story is when he drove my car. I think he was almost as nervous driving mine as I was his, he stalled it out trying to move it out of the driveway (clearly not a racing clutch). Then he got it out in the twisties at about 75mph and on the highway around 110, grinning the whole time. He couldnt stop talking about how great it was and how he wished he had a car this powerful when he was my age...

Needless to say, he was very impressed, and I was one proud mazda owner!

Woot!!! Awesome J....maybe you could convince him to trade, straight up? :)

ya, man...tell him that by trading, it will allow him to relive his youthful dreams of owning this car back in the day...;)

wow very cool of him to let you take the porsche for a drive... so ummm enough about him driving the ms3 where are your impressions of driving the porsche??

umm, there are no words to describe it, but ill try my best lol. First thing is the sound. Cold startup sounds incredibly deep and rich, like its begging to be revved. Which after driving itI can say, it definitely is. The mazda likes the torque of mid range rpm's, the porsche needs to be driven up around 5k-redline.

I was nervous at first and was shifting around 4k, he goes to me "Jay, I know you dont want to wreck it, but you gotta get on it" So I did. I took it the same route he took my car, so I got to take it through the twisties and take it up to speed on the highway. Taking those curves at 75-80 was a breeze and the RWD pushes you through the turns making it feel like nothing. The most fun gears were 2nd and 3rd, but that could be cuz I never got to go too much faster than 4th before my uncle told me to calm it down...

Needless to say, I was impressed. Theres no doubt in my mind, that car was well worth whatever he paid for it, and I cant even fathom what the twin turbo gt-3 feels like......

Good to see a Porche driver who bought it for the performance and not the badge.

ha this one he bought for performance, his wife cayenne was bought for the badge im sure.

He's had some cool cars from what i remember, this one is up there with my favorites, but the mid 80's M6 and '06 M3 give this one a run for its money...

Nice, good to see that Mazda can put a smile on even a Porsche driver's face. It's true, we do get alot of bang for the buck.

Thats pretty cool that he likes your car. The only compliments I get are form older ladies saying "Oh, you have a cute car. Is that a matrix?" and "I bet you can fit a lot of groceries in there."

This is really funny because I have a uncle from New Orleans and he's into extremely nice cars (Porsches and Ferrari) He is currently looking at a F430 Spyder but he came to visit me this week and he was itching to drive it out on the track and highway. He was stunned of how fast it was compared to his everyday Porsche Carrera and loved the handling. I think I might have sold him on buying one himself so he could say it would be for "Family Use" haha. Also coming from a family full of Porsches (I drove a 911 before purchasing this car) this car for the price and speed and cargo space can't be beat. :D
Just thought I would add in =P
(I hope you don't mind)

Yep (drive)
I am excited about starting to actually modify this car and see how fast she will go. I have been driving very tame lately while on the break in but I am going to reach the 1,000 Mile marker today and I think I might just try and see what she can do finally. My uncle is actually seriously buying a MS3 but currently trying to find one is difficult for some reason in this region (took me a while to find one).
