Coming to calgary soon

yeah they do use rocks instead of salt, its a hole enviroment thing.

Calgary uses pea gravel as opposes to salt because Calgary's drinking water is help mostly in reservoirs. The salt gets into the water and BAM...crappy ass water! The pea gravel is swept up, stockpiled, and re-used.

thats not entirely true at all, well the water part yes however calgary uses salt and tonnes of it every year on our roads. We use a combination of the two and if you want proof watch a sander more closely or just look at the roads in the winter and the vehicles are salt stained

Are you calling me a LIAR?!?

Ok. Yeah, you're right. The City of Calgary does mix in, I believe, a brine solution with the snow equipment. At least that's what I remember.

*Sniff* I am sad now. I'm not representing the CPC very well. Sorry, guys. That must be why they kicked me out of Alberta. *sniff*

Ya..white stains on the car. There's some sort of sodium anyways. But ya..pick up a small beater for like 500 bux and just drive the nicer car in the summer

nice, so what is there to do in calgary. . . is the import scene big? i live in a town with one stop light so its going to be a change, but i am looking forward to it, just not the drive

Import scene is basically a bunch of 16 year olds with rusted out R32's lol. Go on beyond.ca and sniff around

You will be pleasantly surprise. Coming out West is the best move you can make!

especially since i have a place to stay for $275 a month :)

also what is insurance like, ive heard it is cheaper as well and ive been thinking about trading the protege in :| but since im 19 my insurance prices arent the best

No insrurance is ridiculously expensive, i acutally just switched in insurance companys i was paying 220/mth, got two tickets, and thats NO COLLISION.

now im with TD canada trust, with my tennant insruane and car, with extra features i didnt have before, with the two tickets, BUT NO COLLISION i pay 150/mth
if you want collision only worth it on a new car in my opinion, it would cost me 250/mth and im 21.

yeah that will about the same as here. mine was around 300 my first year or two. goes down alot after your 25.

another question, do you guys need to get cars safetied when you purchase them, someone mentioned you dont need e-tests.

Hmm..what to do in Calgary...lots...it's got pretty much anything a big city has.

For the "scene"...there's a big Honda following here..just like any other city. It's cool..I think it's gotten way better over the years. We're still looked upon as a more "conservative" city so nothing too over the top or massive.

www.beyond.ca you can check out the scene there.

speaking of which..anyone showing up tonight at the beyond meet?

i may be parting out my car this fall, just a heads up for you protege guys. thinking about getting something with a bit more power
