Colder Plugs = No Hesitation? Suspicious..

Its definatly possible, like if they disconnected it before it was done flashing, then it would only have half (or 3/4, whatever) of the code it needed to run, and that would be bad. However its their fuckup, so make sure the new ECU has the updated code, and i hope they got you a rental car ...

My car was dropped off at the dealer today, was also gonna remove my MBC, but said screw it, and just dialed it down to 9 PSI (I couldn't get it back down to 6, possible?). Dropped it off, and the guy said it might be a while, as my sub blew out too, so I took a rental home. A Mitsubishi Galant. its a turd. Anyway, I called just a few minutes before they closed to check in, got some really long delays and then "Its lookin' like its gonna be tomorrow, you're ok w/ the rental until then?". I said fine and to call me tomorrow. So who knows, but they didn't say anything about my mods (Just the MBC, A/F & boost gauge). When I told the guy about what the car does, and how there is an ECU flash available, he said "Oh, I haven't heard anything about that", but then when I told him about the boards and whatnot, he seemed like he was cool with it ...

Well, wish me and SpicyMSP luck, I guess, hopefully one of us will get our 'speeds back tomorrow ...

Agreed, if for any reason the data in the reflash was corrupted or somehow got corrupted I could imagine that the car wouldn't start and they would have to potentially order a new ECU.

Yeah but the Focus will own the MSP in the twisties. I think that these long sabaticals at the dealership are just a way for you to justify your love for the nonSVT Focus without losing face to us...

If they are getting you a new ECU, ask if they'll make it an Electromotive TEC2!

steph does your car have power? can you try to "start" the car, but nothigh happens. try holding down the emergency ignition kill disable button and starting the car. i have to do this to mine because the alarm is a POS and stopped working.

So last night at our weekly meet at Life Plaza. Everyone helped remove my MBC, and install my NGk Spark Plugs. Some people said It might be a good idea to remove the MBC all together, considering my car is at the dealership all day for the Re-flash. But I am planning on putting it back on , when I get my car back, which is why the plugs were installed.

Anyway On the way home last night, with Dr. Sound in my car, there was 0 hesitation. Smooth as hell, and very even power distribution. It was warm outside, and no humidity. Keep in mind I have not yet had my car flashed. Just wondering if anyone could maybe explain this.. my car is at the dealership right now, and will be until I can pick it up after work.

My concern is that the tech will drive my car, notice that is does not stumble, and then refuse to flash my car.

You forgot to mention your plugs had 28,000 miles on them and looked kinda bad

The dealer DOES need to update the WDS to 24/7 or else it wont work, it came as a CD by mail and was seperate from the downloaded flash. I don't see why they have to order a new ecu, it seems to me that they could update to 24/7, and reflash onto the existing ecu. I would tell them to try that, and if it doesn't work then I have no idea what they screwed up...

other members have had their MSP's flashed at this dealership my car is at. Dex , I dont know if my car has power, it is at the dealership. If I dont get it back tonight, I am tempted to take my spare key, and go check it out myself on their lot. They rented me a HUGE Ford F150, and its aful to drive. I mean this thing is MASSIvE. I wish I had something big to move. I called today to see if they have recieved the ECU, and not yet.

Not to thread jack here, but it's funny to hear about all the different rentals people get - Focus, Galant, friggin F150! I'm lucky I guess...I always get Acuras - I've gotten a brand new TL ($10K+ than the car I drop off for svc, I love it), and when I got flashed, an RSX (not bad, hadn't driven one before).

If you've got a cool dealer, at least that is a plus. I've got a great dealer, and my car took to the flash w/no problem. But good luck, the shittiest part is having to wait, put up w/inconvenience, etc.

I'm sorry Stephanie, that sucks. I hope you get your car soon. Sorry that you have to go through that dealer bulls***, but I'm begining to feel your pain. I took my car into Galpin Mazda this morning to get that mirror installed, now I have a base Protege for a loner car....ughh (notcool)....I told them I also wanted my car flashed, they said it should already be flashed. Service dude said something about the VIN # sequence on my car being included in the ones to get flashed. I was like :wtf: I have know idea about what he is talking about. I don't trust him so next time I see either Steph or Vic I would like one of you two to drive my car and see if you notice the hesitation or see if I he was correct in saying that it has already been flashed.

Hope you get your dealer issues resolved soon. Go give them hell.

I am just about to call mazda corperate about this. I just want to know what happend. "we dont know" is not a satisfactory answer to me. Crist its my beh bee! But the f150 isnt too bad, considering they are paying for it. I have had much worse. I mean I can run over s***, and its AWD> , anyone need help moving anything?

Get some strong rope or cable and tow Vic's car out of that ditch his car is in..
