Cold vs. Ram...Last time

Crutchfield....$272 with cleaning/oil kit and 3 day shipping....I'm a little impatient to finally put the thing in...Next weekend will be the only time I've got in the next month...So I probably paid a little more than I should have, but that's what impulsive buying gets you...

It's such an easy install. They baby your ass all the way through. Hell, they made you two new brackets, show you exactly which bolt to take off and what to bolt where, and it all fits like butta. Which color did you go for? I got the red one, it goes great with the strut bar. Anyway, hope you enjoy it, I know I do.

Red, Thought I'd match the bar as well. I'm sure it'll be easy, but thought I'd ask. How does the red match??? Next weekend I'll post some install pics and my thoughts on the gains. I'm not sure yet about exhaust. I've read it doesn't make much difference unless your turbo or take out the cats...When I do the install I'm also going to clean the intake valve and the little recirculating deal underneath. That should make it run like a champ...I'm starting to have some idle issues like dropping off and running high when I start cold. We'll see. Thanks everyone. (thumb)

Just make sure the tube connecting to the throttle body has enough room that it doesn't rub against the master cylinder (at the bend). You'll know what I mean when you begin to adjust everything. Good luck !

Get a DIA (DINAMIC INTAKE AIRSYSTEM) from BMC!

"Also supplied in the universal kit there is a flexible tube to carry cool air to the Airbox inlet"

universal meaning fits nothing properly
flexible meaning to carry turbulent air (rolling over the flex) to the standard airbox/filter though more stock tube to the manifold

i don't see the gains here

wtfwaste

As I said it's a perfect fit as it's on my F***k car right now! All u need is a 2 3/4 (70 mm) coupler

It's funny that if a product is not american and overpriced some people become sarcastic. BMC makes filters for Formula 1 (Ferrari, Williams, Sauber and some other), that's good enough for me.

still sucks air in from around the engine compartment, it's not a cai - right? (i don't see anything on the site about it being either or)

personally, i can't understand why anyone would want an sri
all that hot air around the engine can't help as much as stock or cai ( i think)

can't be arsed to find the link, but there's a wrx-style hood that is a ram air intake
that'd be better than sri, stock or cai - except it's like $600+
bit pricey...

dgm has the ram air hood with the aem intake w/ custom intake box, like a G$

The flexible tubing is to route external cold air to the filter. It's a lot like Green's Twister intake. Ideally, the flexible tubing should be placed on a high pressure zone (i.e. the front of the car) so air is rammed though. The filter will never see any water this way and stay cleaner too.
I didn't have room to put the flexible tubing, I'll do it when I get a 45 degrees coupler

haha. actually, its carbon fiber.

sure i'll buy one for you, as soon as they drop the price to a dollar and some change. (stash)

There you go! The entrance is just behind the headlamp and far from the path of warm air pushing from the fan. It's ok for now but I will improve it someday... The materials are very good, it's made of very strong plastic (I thought I was gonna break the drilling bit when I fitted the IAT) The filter itself is gorgeous (although smallish). Even if they say the DIA is for engines up to 1600cc the outgoing diameter is excacly the same as 3rd gen proteges MAF (that is 70mm) They also have the CDA which is made of carbon fiber and is still quite affortable. It's the same principle.

PS: if anyone wonders why my overflow bottle is so dirty that's the Red Line water wetter that does this
