Hey i'm new here and I just bought a mp3, does anyone have a problem with the check engine light, with a cold air intake? I took it to Mazda and they said it was fine, but the light keeps coming on. Very frustrating.

take it to auto zone or anywhere else where they read CEL lights at and they will tell u why u have itr.

I took it back to the dealer cause I biught it last week and they are taking it back to Mazda and they said it was fine.

You can check the vacuum hoses going into the intake or maybe a sensor is not plugged in. Take it back to have the code pulled off the car.

Just got a call from mazda now they say its my catalitic converter? i just bought the car, I didn't think thoughs things could go bad that fast. But the dealer says its under warrenty so,its just a lot of running around from work and the dealer and so forth. I just hope that thats the problem.

My CEL comes on when I first clean my CAI filter. The CEL code I get is always the same, it's for the EGR. I cleaned the EGR (do a search) and that fixed the CEL for the most part. It still comes on every now and again, but only lasts a day at the most then it goes off by itself.

If it is your cat. I think that still may be under warrenty. Call Mazda USA and they should be able to tell you. I never trust the dealer, f'ing criminals.

There are supposed to be two sensors in the stock intake along the way, one is the MAF sensor(it looks like a square) and the other one looks like a plug that snaps on and release type. this plug has to be plugged even if you aren't using it. Usually an aftermarket CAI bypasses the 2nd sensor... if thats the case it has to be plugged even if it is bypassed.

Did you unplug your battery to reset the ECU when you connected it up...because if you didn't, then thats your problem. Do a battery disconnect(negative terminal), and let it sit for a couple of minutes, then reconnect. Goodbye CEL(ughdance)

You bought your car just 1 week ago from the dealership, engine light is on and they just say it's ok?! Then they should do something to shut the engine light, right?

They can't just say it's fine and let you drive with engine light on. What kind of service is that?

^^^that is the infamous mazda dealer service....bunch of crap!!!

sorry to hear about your problems man, but the dealer said they will fix it, so that is good.

Finally all fixed and good to go. they said there was a hole in my catalytic converter, guess they said who ever the previous owner was drilled holes in it cause it wasn't loud enough... how do you find out the production #?
