Coilover Question?

I'm thinking about getting coilovers so i can slam my car but i had a couple questions?

1) how hard is the install on them?

2) can i use the stock struts and will i run into any problems if i do use them?

3) would putting the coilovers cause the tires to wore down wrong?

4) and last but not least prices?? where can i find a descent price for coilovers??

If you want coilovers go through Rishie (ARD MP5). He gives good prices since your part of this forum! I got my GC's through him and I was very happy with the business he gave me. The GC's are nice, I installed them myself on my MP3 and their great!

how hard were they to install??
how much were they??
did you use stock struts?
and are ur tires worn down wrong???

any problems with them???

They were very easy to install after you get through the first one. It took about 5 hours to install. I believe his screen name is Mac Daddy, but if you go to his web page he made(http://www.hometown.aol.com/rzr669/home.html) he gives very good instructions on installing them yourself with pictures! I used them (thanks Mac) and it made it quite a bit easier! I payed like $370 for them through Rishie which was the best price I found. I used my stock struts but I also have tokico struts so good question for that. You may want to get aftermarket ones like tokico but you should be alright for the time being. Search the threads on coilovers, I'm sure you'll get an answer for that one. Tires will be worn a bit but you just need to make sure you get at least an alignment after install. Had a one little problem, like a metal on metal grinding sound but a little silicon or white lithium grease takes care of that. No more problems since. I'm happy with them!!! Hopefully soon I will be installing them on my wife's car which is a MP5, but I'm just waiting on the go ahead from her!! Any more questions just ask! :)

1) The actual correct way to install/adjust coilovers is to weigh each corner and such... But thats usually that's out of reach , so just count the threading on each side (fronts equal to each other and rears equal to each other) when you're adjusting the height.

2) Depending on how low you lower your car, your struts will blow very quickly, mine went out after a month. ( I have the SKunk2s)

3) Make sure you get a good balance after setting the coils to the setting you like...but no matter what, the camber will be messed up unless you get a camber kit, so it will put more wear on the tires.

4)I paid $260 for my skunk2s at a local speedshop back when I was in Washington state, I don't know how good the pricing is on that.

Thank for all the Info to everyone that helped. I'm getting my tax check cause i just got to filing my taxes. Was told i was getting $500 so hopefully i do get $500. If i do then i'm getting the coilovers and tint my windows....

skunk 2

i prefer the skunk 2 coil overs. but on my car im running H&R springs with a 1.3 inch drop. From what i understand as long as you stay around there. you should be able to use your stock shocks for a while..I like the skunk coil overs more. They just feel easier to adjust.

I'd have to say Ground Control but I've never had any experience with skunk 2 and I don't know of anyone with them, except a few people on here. Search the threads for skunk 2 coilovers and see what other people say about them. If you use the search function you'll get more information than waiting around for people to answer.
