Guys i just got my New Cobb SRI..Should i be excited to install it???hopefully i do feel a difference in pull or power..am looking for better gas milage as well..loll

hehe...honestly, outside of the placebo effect, you're not going to see a HUGE difference. what you WILL like is the fact that you can now hear your turbo spool, and it sounds HAWT! :D that and every time you look in the engine bay, you'll see the sek-say blue cobble and your heart will go pitter patter...(alright)

Just installed my CAI. It was a bit of a pita but not too bad, so the SRI should be a cakewalk.

I didn't notice a power increase right away, don't know if the ECU had to learn or what, but now I feel a definite increase. It's fun to hear all the gushing and psssing now. I think part of the reason for the power thing is that it was about 30* on my first test drive, kinda cold and it was late so I didn't really get into it. After a few hundred miles, things have really picked up, much to my pleasant surprise (I had already accepted little to no gains so to be surprised was nice). It's also warmed up a bit here to the 50s+. I notice more easy power at part throttle, and I can't give her as much gas on my favorite backroads as I did before - same temps as before so it's not a colder/less traction issue.

yeah the SRI should be a piece of cake..but atleast am glad u've notice some change with the cars performance..and i love that sound that feeds back thru the filter from the turbo as well..
well am in NY, its cold here.. so i should get the tingles after installing and waiting for the computer to remap..

i installed mine last week.

easy! the only thing that might give you problems is removing the accordian piece from the "L" shaped part. Otherwise, its a cinch.

i noticed immediate power increase, and i've done many mods to my other vehicles, so i know a real increase when i feel one. my gas mileage has increased a good 2-3 mpg too.

the sounds, btw, are lovely

Does anyone have any underhood pics of the installation? I am having trouble visualizing just where the filter ends up. Also, doesn't this pipe pull in hot air from the radiator and intercooler?

I can get you a pic tonight, after I'm off work, but the filter just sits right where your stock one was... just without the box around it.

As for the hot air, search the forum, there are plenty of threads where people are arguing whether or not the temp matters, since it heats up so much in the tubo. Form your own opinion, I haven't seen any hard evidence either way, but what do I know?

I just installed mine yesterday. I snapped one of the two bolts attached to the mounting bracket. I didn't think I was over tightening it, but apparently I did. The one bolt was holding fine, but I backed the bolt back out of the nut, slapped epoxy all over it, and put it back over the broken half, let it sit, then finished the installation. I also lost some forearm skin pulling the old accordian hose off.

I haven't noticed any "butt dyno" gains, but I love the sound of the turbo sucking air in. I'd heard previously how distinctive a turbo sounds, and I wondered why I could never hear it in the MS3 even at WOT. Now I can always tell when the turbo kicks in.

On this cold and rainy day in NYC i installed my Cobb SRI..it was a piece of care..everything went smooth..after i let the car warmed up fully,i took it for a quick spin ..i felt the difference from stock right away..the car idles smoother to me,the turbo sounds nice and the throttle response is instantaneous...i love it..cant wait for a dry day..all i was doing is spinning the tires...

Thnx for help fellow SRI users..

That's how my experience was and I came from the MS CAI! It was an immediate change in low end repsonse. I still don't get how some people can't feel the difference. Anyway glad you're enjoying it.
