COBB SRI Installed!

My previous post, I should have said, was between 7 and 8 am. I just made a one hour drive from 3-4pm in the hot beating sun and here are my **new** results.

When I started the car (parked in the sun of course) AMB was reading over 110 and IAT was reading 160. After I started driving, everything equalized and I was getting 91-93 AMB and 97 IAT.

It was hot as hell, especially in direct sunlight. My driving was not stop and go, I would go for a bit, some stop and go, and back to a few minutes of cruising. When I stopped the IATs would slowly walk upto between 130-140 degrees. When I began moving slowly, they would immediately drop to 120 and slowly walk back down to 97 and settle there. If I accelerated quickly, my temps would immediately drop to 110 and walk itself (but quickly this time) back to the 97.

Hopefully this post will give you a better result of real world driving.

i'm pretty sure that the intake is all mental.

Its not all mental. Before I installed the Cobb sri I could never break the tires loose in second gear. Now It consistantly peels out in second between 3000-5500rpm after the Cobb. Thats a real physical difference. It also feels noticably stronger in every gear than it it did before.

I installed my SRI tonight and all I gotta say is WOW!! Awesome gains. It definitely pulls harder and sounds great. My Forge BPV sounds much better with the SRI. I'm impressed. It feels like a different car.

^^ I agree. At first, I didn't know if I had any gains, and was convinced it was all sound. A few days later I floored it and said wow, it never did that before!!

So with dyno proof, why are you convinced intakes don't add any power?

Installed mine a couple of days ago and I LOVE IT! The installation took a little over an hour. Had some issues getting the rubber hose off, but once that was done, the rest was very easy. The car is definitely pulling a bit harder and the sound it makes is very unique. I had an intake on my old integ and it didn't sound anything like this. Great product, easy installation (even for a novice like me), great price, definitely recommend this as one of the first mods to do.

the turbo masks the engine's native noises which is what you loved about the intake on your acura. With a turbo, the induction noise is gone, and replaced by turbo whoosh when spooling and boosting, followed by psssshhh when you let off and it vents the pressure back into the intake. Personally I am not so hot on the turbo noises. Seems a bit ricey and calls un needed attention to your car in traffic. I will take the power gains though :)

Ah I thought that was the intake making the noise. Thanks for the explanation, this is my first turbo car. It definitely attracts attention, good AND bad.

just installed mine tonight, took a little longer than expected -- getting that damn elbow out was a b****. taking pushing in the blue clips on the elbow & removing it once the accordion tube is out is much simpler.

performance wise I'd say I feel a difference -- not like holy s*** this is amazing, but for the money I'm content with the gains, I can definetely feel it pull harder.

As far as the noise goes I'm not really sure how I feel about it...I think I'll get used to it, but its def louder than I had expected...

let us know how you like it, especially on the freeway with a bit of gas. the OP found the noise annoying.

I dont want to be an asshole.......Im not a mechanic neither a big gear head.......but I think cold air might be making a lil diffrence on a N/A car since the air is sucked in straight to the throttle body....instead of intercooler/turbo.

Whitey I dont want to start anything but our cars are a bit diffrent from RSX's.......NA vs Turbo.........also who gives a crap about yahoo answers............maybe you do I honestly dont.

Why pay $300 for cold air if u can get SRI for $180? Also the silicone is a good idea because my friend that metal in ur CAI will get HAWT AS FK

I love the noises when I want them. Sometimes, though, I want to accelerate quickly and quietly and it's not easy. Eh, I love them more often than I hate them!!

update:

So I guess I wasn't pushing her hard enough last night, but today the power gains seemed more noticable. Also, the noise seemed less apparent. Its really only very apparent with the windows down and the music down under harder acceleration (obviously) overall last night I'd say my level of satisfaction with this product was a 7/10, now I'm a 10/10. Only thing is they left out 2 flat washers in my mounting hardware, but that wasn't really a big deal -- just used some similar sized washers lying around.
