Cobb SF Intake released

Spot on. I have some battle scars to boot, too. I haven't done so much cussin' in a long time. My neighbors were spooked. After all the swearing was done, the ride is so much sweeter. Sounds great as-is, so for now, I don't plan to upgrade the stock BPV. The many threads and debates about them are informative nonetheless. If I were to choose, I'd pick the Forge BPV based on what I've read.

Forge for me too, but I have other priorities. Waiting on my short shifter, then I have to pay for a ring...

BEGI users, where are your comments? Accordian hose stays, so no pain there. The Box, I think, protects filter from rain. Big ass filter.

Cons.
Probably crazy loud.
Oiled filter, i think.
CELs?

what bov are you using in that video? it sounds super clunky. nice video, superstable. didnt get naseous watching it.

i just bought a Cobb sri, not looking forward to removing the accordion pipe!

Its the stock bpv.

The clunk you are hearing is probably from a combination of all the stuff in my car shifting around and the crappiness of my cameras microphone.

Once you get your intake installed you'll hear it for yourself, it sounds SO sweet. Clunks are due to noise / camera, NOT the bpv.

Cold air, or short ram, that is the question
Weather tis' nobler in the wallet to suffer the pains of buying on warranty
The slings and arrows of an outrageous fortune
Or to take chance, with Cobb tuning's short ram air
And by avoiding cost, to pay out of pocket when something breaks?
The heart-ache and the hundreds of dollars
That keeps me protected under factory claim
Devoutly to be wish'd. To save, to spend
To spend: perchance to power: ay, there's the rub;
For in that cost of warranty part, what power may come
When we have shuffled off this stock air box burden,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long...
The results
Of the Dynometer

Thank you Sierra117 for providing the essential inverse to what people use as language on the internet forums today.

I'm for the Cobb experience when I get the funds to do so, because I think an SRI makes more sense in Vegas given our flooding concerns. I also like the fact they replace the accordion hose with a smoother variant, to eek out that extra efficiency from the setup. I think it would be easy to make a heat shield to complement the design as well.

No prob fourthmeal. Anything to break up the usual:

"Yoz sups gs? Ize got the need for sped, and some tizzytle cash flosw. I wants to the zoom zoom pssht cuz it drops the panties, aite? I'ma ventz off, cuz its the pimp s***."

Anyways, I'm leaning more towards picking up the Cobb, especially if that rumor I read a few pages back about a Carbon Fiber box is true. I'm a total ricer about CF, to me its the new chrome. I mean, IMHO, best looking engine bay on the face of the planet is the MINE'S R34.

Of course, the general look of a pipe just rolling off the MAF and diving into the engine bay as its own appeal.

But most important for me over all is power. I've heard plenty about dyno's not really being the same as actual driving, and if at the track there is hardly any difference at all, I'd probably go with Cobb.

Does an SRI or CAI make the turbo spool up faster, reducing turbo lag? What about improve the smoothness of the power delivery on boost?

awesomeness.

Okay back to business:

Here is an option for those who want a SRI, but prefer a dry filter and rather not get your filter wet when it rains.

Go to NOPI. Buy a Fujita Filter.

And if you want to make it water resistant go to AutoAnything. Buy a Large Injen Pre-Filter.

Anyone else try this or a similar combo yet? It will cost you around $50 for parts and shipping.

Amsoil makes a filter that will fit the cobb intake, and its blue and dryflow. Amsoil EA Filters are good stuff. I decided to stick with the cobb oiled filter for now.

lol...after reading up on all this, i'm definitely going to make my own SRI, cause it'll be a load of fun doing it...=D i'll keep you all posted on how it turns out! =d

Ah, Cheaper if you get all the parts I mentioned previously through cardomain.com!!!

Like $20 for the filter and $12 for the water sock, I mean pre-filter. And shipping is FREE!!!

And also, the freakin accordian hose took forever to remove... Until I pryed it off with a flat tip screw driver, it took like 5 seconds.

HINT: Use a FLAT tip screw driver to wedge it OFF. Works fabulously. Just be careful not to scratch up the pipe too much. Shove it in there and yank it up. It POPs right out. Literally makes that POP sound. Pretty cool sound.

Talking about sounds... I thought it would be louder without the box. It is actually pretty quiet (Cobb Intake), except for the BPV whistle sound. My Iceman for my sorry Honda was twice as loud.

I can still easily pass the DB test that the Germans make me do each year. My Honda always failed (also had a Magnaflow CBE). Always had to silence it with a paintball barrel stuffed with brillo pads. Works great! Reduced the apeture of the exhaust pipe, thus reducing the bellow.

I hope all my SoCAL homies are doing well! JAY? U Okay? For the love of God, keep your MS3 parked away from dry brush, trees, and homes next to the stuff!!!!
