I installed this thing this afternoon. it took about an hour because i had a slight issue and that is why i'm writing this for those who will embark on this in the future.
the issue was getting the little 90* "elbow" out of the stock intake side. the Cobb instructions make this seem like it's a matter of simply wiggling it out once the clamp band is pinched. well, it wasn't. In order to NOT break it in any capacity as it's a pretty fraglie looking plastic elbow, i deviated from the instruction order and removed the stock intake tube first, detached the clip from the elbow and tried to remove the elbow from the tube with it out of the car. Solved that problem, just had to give it an 'unscrewing' motion while wiggling/pulling.
the stock rear band clamp that holds the stock intake tube on is different from the front clamp type, which means that its a typical worm clamp that needs to be loosened alot without fear of a nut dropping like the front black clamp.
be careful when undoing the 10mm nuts for the intake bracket. if you drop one of these and the fall to the undertray, good, because you can reach down without an intake in there. however, its very possible that they WON'T fall all the way down there and get caught up on something. so...be careful.
the bolt set they provide for the resin MAF housing thing connection to the bracket was missing two regular washers...or, their directions were wrong. either way, i added the washers as per the directions.
i'd like to comment on something that i didn't read when researching this thing. the intake sound on this thing is alot more pronounced that what i thought. i come from hondas, cars that don't come turbo, so...when someone adds a turbo...it sounds like this because usually they have a short intake tube with an open element filter on the end...like this. why i thought it would be different, i dunno, i guess because it's SO quiet stock, but it's very loud when the turbo spools. is it a good thing? absolutely, IF you like that aggressive sound. I have a TXS hybrid valve so that is also more pronounced than before in the orchestra going on under there.
as far as power, it's hard to say because it's raining out and when it's not raining, it's wet. i'll have reports tomorrow. i do notice that there there doesn't seem to be a quicker spool time, but when it does spool at about 3k the power increase is definitely more than stock. it's VERY noticeable.
more tomorrow, just gotta watch out for these (five-0)(five-0)(five-0)
