Hey guys Im new to the mazda world just leaving acura and have been doing alot of research about fmic's for this car. For me it came down to the cobb and the turbo xs. My question is will I be able to use the aem intake with the cobb or the turbo xs? also with the cobb DP do they make a mid or race pipe aswell? any info would help me.

Can't speak much for the Cobb FMIC, but I believe you can use the AEM intake no problem.

The Cobb DP includes the mid pipe section of the exhaust. No need to buy another piece. It's all one piece, unlike the Corksport, where you have to buy two pieces.

Hey thanks bro yeah I was wondering why the cobb DP was so expensive and looked like it had the mid pipe with it. Yeah I was wondering about the FMIC becuase with some IC you have to use that companies intake and i think that AEM is awesome and they sound great to. But if you find out anything on that hit me back. Thanks.

the cobb fmic is a nice kit. i've installed one on someone else's car. i have a cp-e fmic and the cobb was "easier" to install, since you don't have to reroute the power steering lines.
i'm fairly certain that with the txs, you'll have to reroute the power steering lines and you'll get a new power steering cooler thingy...so you'll have to drop your power steering fluid during the install.

How do you think the two (cobb and cp-e) compare on the build quality and performance wise if you had the chance to test them?

ummm...they're both quality products. the core on the cobb is bigger...does bigger mean better?
idk
the piping on the cobb is 3" and the cp-e is 2.25"
the cobb is centered.
the cp-e is not and that's just ******* weird.
you shouldn't think the purpose of the fmic is power, because it's not really. it's about being efficient and making your car run well.
the temps will be lower than they were with the tmic.
if i had found the same deal on the cobb fmic that i did on the cp-e, i would have picked it up in a heart beat.
if you plan on using meth down the line, the cobb's cold pipe is more conducive to this.

I went with CP-E over Cobb because I didn't want to trim my bumper.
It seems a bit weird to me that Cobb claims 0.65 psi pressure drop with their 2.5" pipes, and CP-E has 2 psi drop with 2.25" pipes. I assume that the pipes are routed about the same so the total length of piping is more or less the same.

they are not routed the same.
cobb takes the hot pipe from the turbo down the drivers side and then goes all the way to the passenger side for the hot end tank.
the cold side is the driver's side, which makes that piping pretty short, but the hot side is one long ******* pipe.
cp-e does the opposite...
hot pipe comes off the turbo and into the driver's side end tank...cold pipe is the passenger side and the cold pipe is either 2 or 3 pieces if i recall.

oh, and from what i've seen, pressure drop is a myth...but i'm just talking s*** at this point.
but with my fmic, i seemed to hold the same amount of boost

I assume they would compensate for the boost pressure lost on the map for a FMIC with AP right? That would seem like the logical thing to do.

yeah absolutely. the fmic maps are targeting x boost and they're hitting and holding x boost.
i know one guy who's got a cobble fmic with the ap and he's holding 17-18.
i know another guy who's got a cobble fmic running a different map and holding around 19

I've switched back and forth between two beta maps: Stage 2 + SRI +93 v1.03 and Stage 2 +SRI + FMIC + 93 v1.03. And the car feels a bit livelier with the first map, though there's more flutter from the BPV running the red spring. I'm hitting 19psi with both maps. I'm gonna play more with the spring tensions, see how it goes.

So is the turbo xs or the cobb fmic better? and will i be able to use the aem intake and or injen intake with both?
