Cobb AP Discussion Thread

Well maybe after we get ATR out, they'll have a Stage 2+ 93 MSCAI map, which would make my day.

Question is, other than the cobb site and bova's site, do we have any other resources for maps? I didn't come across any on 6club either.

AP is on all the time

I know ive read this somewhere but I couldn't remember. Would take me ages to search for the answer.

Anyway 1st question is : Does the cobb ap only "kick in" when your WOT (or near WOT) ??

2nd Question: How long does it take for your car to "learn" the flash?? Is it instant?

3rd Question: If the 1st Q is true than I think this is self explanatory but does the AP have any potential long term effects? You are obviosly keeping the throttle plate open longer but would that hurt its long term life expectancy in any way? Med school is expensive and I want this car to last me at least 70K miles.

The common misconception is that the AP is somehow connected and controlling your ECU like a standback... this is not how the AP operates. The AP rewrites the ECU with new values for fuel, boost, timing etc. and stays permenantly on the ECU. Often times we make changes to the ECU for load points all along the powerband from WOT to idle, it all depends on the map, your mods etc.

The ECU shouldn't need to "learn" the flash since we are essentially re-educating the ECU. However, LT/ST fuel trims and active timing control will continue to function, just on top of the changes we have made.

New Cobb AP

Just Installed my new Cobb Ap! I got it for $550.00. It has made a huge difference! I look forward to screwing around with it and learning more from the forum! Any tips would be much appreciated! I'm currently running the Fujita 93 Map.

here is a pick of where i stashed it!

Are you going to mount a mirror on your dash so you can view live data with it stashed there?

Someone on here has a great thread about a way to mount this utilizing a cellphone holder from walmart for like 9 dollars. Ran the wire right up through the vent. Thats where I have mine.... minus the wire ran through the vent. It looks cool where you have it but it kind of defeats the purpose. no pun intended... or are you just storing it there when your not using it?

i did that it looks amazingly clean...i love it..

That's true, but once you flash your ecu with the Ap you don't need to keep it hooked up. So flash your ecu then hook up your dash Hawk. Good to go.

the AP does everything the dash hawk does so if ya keep it hook up the dash hawk is no longer needed.

Well, not exactly. The AP only displays a single parameter at a time whereas the DH has up to 7 live displays. I prefer my DH for real-time and only use the AP when needed for an update....
