Cobb AP Discussion Thread

Sounds like I will be doing a "How-To" on this toward the end of the summer. Talk about trial by fire.

I won't be tapping into my stock intercooler though. I'll buy an ETS replacement and start from there. I would imagine that doing water+methanol injection will probably require some sort of special tune as well.

Would love to see that! I've got an ETS on-order from Protege Garage (still waiting for ETS to finish making more :'( ), I'd be interested to see how the w+m injection would add... and would have to find someone around KC who can tune the car.

Good luck getting rid of that KR and with the LTFTs- hopefully a different map will help sort things out.

Let me get this right on the LTFT though... the higher that number, the richer you're running? If that's the case, it explains why I just got 180 miles on half a tank of gas. Granted, in that half tank I've done a few WOT logs and whatnot.

I'll change this tomorrow before work. Guys, I really appreciate your assistance. I hope I can return the favor soon.

This is how LTFT are interpretted.

+ % = Lean (the car is adding fuel to reach the commanded fuel ratio)
- % = Rich (the car is pulling fuel to reach the commanded fuel ratio)

LTFT are simply your STFT applied over time. Say your LTFT is currently reading 4% but your STFT start reading -2%, well if the STFT stay at -2% long enough it will eventually bring your LTFT down to 2%. Many things can affect your fuel trims, modifications are one thing but also leaks in the system.

I have checked the system over for leaks in the vacuum as well as the intake/turbo inlet. Things checked out fine. Hopefully this new map will help.

Here's the log from my drive to work this morning immediately after installing the Stage2 +SF 93 map.

It took a little while, but there was some knock. LTFT's were all over the place, as expected.

.3 knock is nothing, especially since this is part throttle. LTFT will be everywhere cause you just flashed the map. let it settle in for about 25-50 miles. can't really tell anything from partial throttle, but put more miles on it and do 3rd gear WOT.

I'm at about 45-50 miles right now. I'll log on the way home and throw it up this evening. We'll see how things are panning out.

I got my ITV22's yesterday. I'll be putting them in possibly tonight or tomorrow morning (woot 4 day weekend).

You can check to see if your ECU has completed its "learning" process by turning the ignition to the "ON" position and leave it there for 15-30 seconds. If the CE light flashes 8 times, it has not completed its learning cycle. If it stays on solid, you're ready to go (usually its ready after 50 or so miles with several shut downs of about 5 hours)

Only do a WOT log, well only post that one cause i am not looking at another partial log, lol, to much crap to look through and basically says nothing.

This is incredibly helpful to have. I appreciate that Slyter.

Understood. The only reason I posted the casual driving log is that you seemed somewhat hesitant to recommend the Stage2 map because I only have a test pipe and not full TBE. I'll get some extra miles on it today and post a WOT late tonight.

Thanks again for your help!

I'm very curious to see how your car runs with this map as well. I've been debating on flashing to the Stage 2 or not with my mods, cause my LTFT's were hovering around 6 and I'd get some KR on partial throttle. Car ran pretty well though..

With the Stage1+SF 93 map, my car ran really strong in first gear but was really sluggish after that.

It feels a lot smoother with the stage2 map so far. Speaking of smooth.... (mj)

Won't be posting a WOT datalog tonight. Hope to have it up by tomorrow night. Had to unplug the battery due to swapping spark plugs. Didn't want to give myself a jolt.

you don't have to unplug battery to switch plugs....just disconnect the coil packs take them out then take the plugs out.

ok i have a quick question if u do unplug the battery does it automatically set the ecu back to the stock map if u have a Cobb AP map installed ..my guess is no..but maybe im wrong?? just wondering cuz i had to today to install some gauges today..

No, it doesn't uninstall the map you've put into it. It does reset the ECU's memory of fuel trim.

Here is a log I did today going up a long 35 degree incline through 2nd and 3rd. Sorry I'm so late to post. It took my car 178 miles to learn the new map.

Keep in mind that this is a Stage2+SF 93 map and I've changed the plugs to Denso ITV22's since last time.

Thanks!

log looks fine but i don't suggest you load up below 2.75 rpms, especially up a hill. that knock is nothing to really worry about.

bova, have you calibrated the MAF yet with any of your maps?

I just downloaded AccessTUNER Race and have been reading for about 4 hours now. I'm moderately computery savvy but that doesn't seem to help with this. I'm not really even sure where to start with this program.

I've got the manuals printed out in a binder but haven't started reading them yet in great detail. I think this is the key to fine tuning our cars and getting the efficiency up from the OTS stuff.
