Clutch Wear on MSP

I have hard time putting into 1st or reverse when I am standing still.

In order to put the gears in smootly I have to accelerate a bit or be in movement.

They told me the clutch may be wearing out.

31000 miles stock but bought it used.

Do you guys have ever experienced that before?

If I change the clutch should I buy a Mazda one or an aftermarket one?

bump

I just replaced my clutch with an exedy stage 1 just last week because my clutch was going out. Car has 74k miles on it. every time i punched it at like 4k rpms it was like the wheels were spinning but they werent.

Swapped out stock clutch at 43k miles for aftermarket clutch due to LSD failure. Stock clutch ran perfectly fine all the way up to its departure.

34k SRI & Turbo back exhaust & little ecu adjustment (lol) & heat soak like a b****

14 psi

grabs like brand new ( and ill dog it like once or twice a day)

72000 miles and the clutch seems fine to me. it has its moments of high revs in neutral and sometimes it is hard to get in reverse when still but those problems just dont come often just appear every now and then.

Do ihear LSD breakage soon? (peep) Not going into reverse more often was a sign for me.

61k miles and clutch is still there... bought it used.

HOWEVER I have a feeling it might be on its way out? Every once in a while, it will slip in first gear and it takes a little higher rev to get it to grab. its not aproblem I can regularly recreate. I believe its usually after a hard run (trying to think back now). In either event it grabs great otherwise, and I just filled my brake fluid res. back to max and it grabs ALOT better...

I have always had this but I don't have a factory diff anymore. At odd moments it will not want to go into reverse. I can get it to go in by driving forward a bit and then it will go as if nothing had happened.

65K - Slipping when wheels would normally spin (full throttle in 1st and 2nd)
12psi with more mods than in sig for at least the last 12 months

60k hwy miles, 2 seasons autox, clutch still perfect. I pulled out on the hwy the other day and missjudges the traction that was available and the car wandered while the fron wheels roasted but still accellerated fast enough to get a surprised look at a SS camaro that had changed lanes to let me have the right lane only to realize that he did not need to. (ughdance)

FYI I also have trouble getting into reverse sometimes and I think its just a gear alighment thing. Letting the car roll even just a centimeter or two allows it to get in gear. Also, this issue got worse when I put the AWR mounts in and shifter bushing. I think the soft stock mounts allow the engine and assy move just enough to allow to get into gear.

74k miles on my stock clutch, 2nd lsd just broke and im throwing a welded one in it, but im going ahead and putting an exedy in it while i have it apart.

replaced mine this weekend, it was doing ok so far. 60K with almost 30K around 200whp. Clutch was fine I just had to fix a leak and didn't want to pull tranny again for awhile. Put in a nice 6 puck ceramic custom Exedy and rewound PP. Taking some getting used to during the break in. Pedal is so light right now which I don't really get.

65,000 got a new clutch put in while getting the new LSD they told me it was less that 1/3 left. so why not. I also get that reverse problem i have to hold it in reverse and slowly let the clutch out then it pops in. And im having problems with 2nd now, sometimes it will go halfway and i have to bring it back up again and slam it in pain in the ass cause it tends to grind. Why is it doing this? its extremely cold here so maybe thats it? 1,000 on new clutch/diff.

I don't know if it's because is so frickin' cold here or what, but I've been getting a lot of clutch chatter. I mean I cannot get a smooth start no matter what I do. Or is this a sign the the clutch is going? 91000kms on the clock.

More details?

As for my clutch, 65k with plenty of life left. Swapped out because it couldn't hold the powaz any more.
