clutch switch?

If I try to start the car in gear without pushing in the clutch, the car will attempt to start and will lunge forward. Even tho its rare for me to forget to push in the clutch, I would like to fix this. It was already doing this when I bought it 5 years ago. Thepope540 tested some sort of switch/plug under the dash and said there was voltage. I am not sure which switch/plug he tested. He said to look elsewhere, but I dunno where. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
