Clutch slip!!!!

well a little update...my car now has 80k miles on it and the clutch has not started slipping again since i first posted this thread! so idk if it was just a fluke or what but im hoping it doesnt just explode on me one day!

i have since then replaced a civic SI and Mini Cooper clutch in some of my friends cars that are in my car club...does anyone no of a how to or anything on our clutches?
HHMMMMMmmmmm
that would support Maestro's path, if it is intermittent and evidently not fatal to the clutch, (and I, to, have proly 15K after first occurance) it must be an actuator problem

Could it possibly be the cold that caused this? I experienced it once the other day after putting on my downpipe but could not re-create it. I'm sure you've all felt how the clutch lets out slower in the cold for whatever reason.

June in tampa ??

It's "turbo lag", the dealer said

I will be out of the 36k/3 year warranty in 30 days. So I figure I take it to the dealer to have my clutch slip fixed as part of the bumper to bumper warranty. They insist on drive testing the car without me in the car. I wait for half an hour, they come back telling me that the clutch is fine, it's turbo lag (!?!).

Finally, I get behind the wheel and I take to the expressway and I prove my point. They said the clutch is covered only for the first 12k, so I am out of luck.

Now a friend of mine with a Speed6 with previous clutch problems said I should pay for a clutch replacement right away because there could be more problems (flywheel?) and at least the warranty would cover all the other possible issues.

How did anybody here fix their issue with the clutch slipping?

I was thinking to wait couple of more years since it is not such a big issue yet.

Thanks.

12K?
is not the clutch located between the bumpers?

as far as your thoughts on saving money, in this case I would say no, what your friend is thinking is just replaceing the friction disc, and therefore "saving: the pressure plate. these intermittent slips are not going to take out the plate, you need to get it real hot, or score the hell out of it by running a worn disc down to the rivets. neither being the case, you would just be supporting a dealer who is incapable of telling the difference between a clutch and a turbo,... or the truth
