Clips in Arm Rest

I noticed two clips in the lid of the arm rest of my car today. Does anyone know what they're for? I know the hole in the bottom of that top compartment is to feed the mp3 player cable through, and there's a dip on the right side of the lower compartment so you can pass a charger cable through, but I haven't figured out what those clips are for yet.

I know in the Audi A4 and VW Jetta I had they were for paper and pen but I haven't really looked at them when I bought my Mazda they like had to show me everything and I already knew Everything he said so I had to be bored for like 30 minutes he might have mentioned it but again I just wanted the key so I could take my car out.

Huh?

What do you mean "huh?" in the Audi A4 and VW Jetta I owned before my three there were clips that looked just like the two in the MZ3 and they were for paper and then there was a smaller one for a pen? And if you bought your Mazda brand new the dealership has to walk you around the car and show you all the little things before you can leave the dealership with your car you have to sign a paper saying they did give you the tour of the car... so to answear your question... I think the clips are for paper in case you didn't get what I said for the second time.

No, I got the part about being a place to store paper, but I didn't get the rest, it all ran together for me. The new post made more sense though. My salesman didn't mention those clips though, I just noticed them the other day. Thanks though, I'll take a look to see if I can get a pen to stay in there.

I keep a pen in the glove box it's the only thing that sits on the "lip" everything else is on the inside, or if you find a small enough pen you could put it next to the "PRDL" aka gear shifter in that rectangle cut out? I don't know if all models have it my iTouring does that space is where I keep my blackberry though... Good luck and sorry to confuse you.

Its cool, that indentation is the perfect size for my sunglasses. Do you use that little compartment to the lower left of the steering wheel? Its where the OBD-II connector is. I can't get anything to stay there, I guess I'm a little too hard on the gas.

If for some reason I have cash I stick it there I had a 99 Civic and it had like a door on it and you had to pull it down to open it so it was safer then the openness on the Mazda but the money hasn't fallen out while the door is open and it doesn't move while the windows and sunroof is open so I guess I'll keep it there... or in the ashtray because it really does have a "lid" have you used the "paper holder" on the sun visor? I hate that thing stuff flys out my window all the time! I keep my sunglasses in the indentation too till I get in my car then it is replaced with my BlackBerry and if I'm on my phone I put it in the Speed-O hole and it works get the people say it's a little like talking into a cave but they get over it.
