Climate control

I was wondering if anybody has looked into swapping in an automatic climate control unit from either a Brittish or Australian 2. The actual panel interfaces look similar, but am curious about the potential wiring pitfalls and the lack of the recirc/outside air lever in the overseas versions.

I tried searching, but it basically returned every thread.

Welcome to the forum! I've never really thought of that actually. I really love the 2's heat/ac controls though. I like that they are direct linkages instead of using a vacuum or electrical system.

I do like the climate system the way they are now, but climate control is really the only luxury I kind of wish I had (my gf has it in her lexus...it spoils me). Plus, i like the simple layout of the australian/brittish versions.

I wasn't sure if this belonged in this forum (I thought of it as an accessory), or in the electronics/audio section.

Based one what I have seen in other models you need to get the whole heater/AC unit, control panel, wiring, control module, and a factory wiring book to get everything to work correctly. I do recommend getting one that matches your version ie RHD or LHD setup so the wiring is as close as you can get to start.

Hmm... sounds like you might be better off getting a Mazda3 with the option or waiting to see if it becomes available in the next version of the US 2. Unless you are a car wiring wizard? In which case, can we all bug you with our questions?
