Clicking sound in the rear of the cabin when turn signal is on

This has got me curious. My wife pointed out the other day that when the turn signals are on, she could also hear the clicking sound coming from the rear of the car.

Just for laughs, I tried it the other day and sat in the back seat and also heard the clicking sound. Hazard lights and turn signals will make the same sound.

I know this is normal for the clicking sound to come from the dash when turn signals are on but is it normal for it to sound in the rear as well?

Do you have BSM? Was the CX9 moving above 20mph?

I have BSM but it wasn't the same clicking sound from the BSM. This only happens when the indicators are flashing. I also tried this with the car parked, engine off. Maybe it's just the acoustics making me think the sound is coming from the rear. I sat in the cargo area and 2nd row seat and can hear it coming from somewhere behind the 2nd row seat. Was not able to pinpoint the exact location though.

This is not an issue but rather got my curiousity. Wonder if there is a separate clicker in the rear

I have a 2007 GT and can hear the clicking sound in the rear when the radio is off. I believe, but do not quote me, that there might be some sort of relay in the rear.

Sound in the rear

Do you have the towing package?

There's relay in the rear to support the added load of trailer lights. Not sure if it's installed in all vehicles or not.

Yeah, I do have the towing package. I guess the only way is to look at a wiring diagram or schematic for the vehicle.

That would explain it.
Today I sat in 2nd and 3rd seat with blinker on. I couldn't hear anything other than the sound from the dash.
I have GT AWD w/o Tow package.

I guess it's good to know that I'm not hearing things then. I didn't believe my wife initially when she told me she could hear the clicking from the rear. I didn't realise they would wire CX-9s with tow packages differently.
Not sure how true this is but my dealer said that the tow package is actually installed at the port rather than in the factory.
