ive been wanting the claer side markers for a while now. i remember an old post where someone used cougar side markers and glued them on. I was wondering if anyone made clear markers that fit properly. i know alot of people mention in their mods that they have them. i wasjust wondering where to get them and how much they cost. thankyou any help would be appreciated. Also what color AEM intake would look beter on a blue MP3 blue or silver?????

I don't know about a Protege specific light, but I do know about a clear side-marker for a Mazda RX-7.

You can click on the part: FD clear fender markers with bulbs (sold as pair) to see a picture.

I'm just giving the info - I'm not selling them. Honestly, I wouldn't pay that much either!

I wasn't complaining about anything you said... jsut the crazy pricing, they must not sell alot of those things....

protege5 dont have the same side markers as the mp3 it has a blinker up front on the bumber the mp3 is under the mirror and they arent the same shape. So what do u guys think about the AEM intake Blue or silver????

Big_Ben has the clear side markers. He accually did a dam crafty job of making them fit. They look nice up close. Ask him how.

Just an idea....Why cant we just use a universal side marker? Because I really want a pari as well. But Def. not willing to spend a $buck59 for them. That retarded, any ideas or solutions to this problem?

Clear Side Markers

Just so that all of you know, the Protege5 now comes stock with clear sidemarkers as part of the Mid-cycle refresh option. I priced them with my dealership discount and they came out to $61.90. So as a regular custom they're about $125. You can also get the 2002 Protege and Protege5 with a Sportronic Shifter. Just thought you guys who were looking for clear sidemarkers would like to know.

BIGBEN, how did u make ur clear side markers, im very interested in your technique. 20$ sound good to me:D

I just saw a woman driving a silver P5 with clear side markers up over the wheel well but the same old yellow ones near the bumper. If that's the 2002.5 clear markers (with amber bulbs), I'm rather disappointed that they kept the yellow ones. I can't see her being the type to add them herself. There was a baby seat in the car and everything else looked stock.

Here is the link to the site that I bought the clear side markers from.

THEY ARE NOT AN EXACT FIT. So if you buy them and get pissed that they don't work, it's not my fault. You can make them work one of two ways. They come with a silver plastic back on them. They have a half sphere back. It is just too big to fit into the existing hole in the fender. If you use some type of serrated blade, you can cut a groove into the top and the bottom edge of the "sphere on the back of the sidemarker. Those grooves will be the exact thickness of the fender metal. It should pop right in or you can put it in twisted 1/4 turn, then just twist it into place. If you mess this up its ok because there is another way. Also, if you don't want to splice into the existing wires, this way is for you. Take off the existing sidemarkers. You will have to use something to break off the amber cover. It's glued on and doesn't snap off. I just used a serrated knife and hit it a few times and broke it apart. Then pull the peices of the best you can. After you get it down to the edges of the grey housing, you will need some type of file the get the rest off. I used a grinder. Any type of metal file will work. File down the remaining amber peices until the edge of the grey housing is smooth and all grey is showing. Then the clear lens will just snap off of the other sidemarker. Use any type of glue to glue it on. I recomend some type of epoxy because super glue leaves a white haze on plastics. I learned this by experience. You can't notice it unless you are looking for it though. Hopefully you aren't totally confused. Once you get all the parts and start doing it, this will all make sense. Have fun and take your time to make it look good.

THANKS BIG BEN ill will purchase them asap. cant wait to see the pics!!!
