I have used Clarivue protectors on my last 3 phones and on my Jetta touchscreen radio. I really like that they are held in place by static versus adhesive, which means you do not have to do a wet installation, they are easily removable, and if you do get bubbles or lint under the film, it easily lifts off with a small piece of tape and can be cleaned and repositioned.

They did not list an in-stock film for the Mazda, so I made a template and ordered a custom cut of 130mm x 74mm. The fit is just about perfect. If I would have centered it better, you wouldn't notice the "slight" gap on the left side but I managed to get no bubbles or lint on the first try, so I didn't want to tempt fate. We went with the Ultra Clear version, but they also offer an anti-glare option as well. So far no issues with screen washout or excessive glare, and the screen has a brighter, almost wet/vibrant appearance like a good-quality TV. It was around $25 (shipped to the US from Canada) for two protectors, and they were shipped out in about 4 days after the order was placed.

Forgive dust/lint. It is ON the surface, and not under it. ;-)

I did email the company and asked them to list this fitment, but until they do you will have to select Custom Cut: http://www.clarivue.com/custom-cut-screen-protector.html

So that's it; it just enhances the screen image? No other advantages like mitigating smudges or fingerprints? Not sure that would be worth $25 to me. Can you post a picture of the improved screen image?

No... the "enhanced" image it a side-effect. The PURPOSE is to protect the screen from scratches and minimize finger print smears. You will still get smears, don't get me wrong. The anti-glare version hides finger prints better.

Thanks for the review and pics. I am a big fan of my glass screen protectors on my phone and tablet which are oleophobic coated (smudge/fingerprint resistant). The website claims "anti-fingerprint" but no mention how they do this, and no mention of oleophobic coatings. But again, I am a fan of screen protectors for expensive electronics and less possible scratches. I may consider this on the list!

I got a basic static attached screen protector from Monoprice for $1. Reason why it was so cheap is because it was for a low demand/discontinued Dell or BlackBerry tablet. I measured, cut to size, and slapped it on. No need for expensive screen protectors. Though one is necessary because for those who use the screen often, you will see the screen has markings on points that are touched often. This also keeps fingerprints to a minimal.

I usually put screen protectors on all my gadgets, but didn't put one on the CX-5. I had Garmin 1350 for couple years now without any protector, and it is scratch-free. If our screens were capacitive type (like most smartphones these days), then I would maybe look for a cheap tempered glass screen protector as those are usually oleophobic. These screens being mounted vertically, I don't think it's going to wear out that easily. It's not like a phone you put in your pocket with keys and coins. But who knows, they might have cheaped the crap out and put a bad screen.

I did the same with an anti-glare screen protector meant for an iPad mini; I had kept the factory installed plastic film on it for a month lol. I measured the screen with a 3" x 5" index card and noticed the card was just a bit too tall, so I made it about 2-7/8" x 5" and it fit pretty well, maybe a 1/32" border all the way around that isn't covered. It doesn't really change how the screen looks at all, but it does feel much smoother and easier to use due to the slight anti-glare texture on the protector.

You're right about keys and coins, but long fingernails will eventually put scratches on the screen too. And I, too, would like a tempered, oleophobic screen protector. Protecting the screen not only protects your screen but may give you a better resale value if you decide to upgrade the HU or whole vehicle down the road.
