Civic Type R

Ok, it's not an MS3, but I thought it was cool none-the-less.
so you start off your post with essentially "i know this doesn't belong in this section" yet you still posted it in this section. why not post it in the right section in the first place since you were smart enough to know it doesn't go here?

ya but our cars are nothing without boost think of it that way how in the hell does any mazda beat a civic motor, boost which is the same idea, boost gives u more power at higher rpms and the vtec in civics takes away the torque but the top end makes up for it which in most instances eats up na mazdas or any other car out there for that matter that isn't boosted just like the rx7 which uses the same principle small rotarys are nothing without boost....just my 2 cents. And everyone I'm not a honda guy so don't think i'm trying to defend myself although the only honda car i would ever drive would be a s2k...lol

I like real world power as I call it..Im not into reving the crap out of something to pass another car...Bro i have owned so many Hondas its not funny, everything from the single cams to the most recent 08 Si sedan..not knocking the fact that the technology is there, its just not the ideal set up for driving in traffic. And the Boost in my mazdaspeed3 is at the midrange not at the high rpms. Most of the N/A Mazdas are pretty much for economy anyway, so no they don't compete with a twin cam V-tec motor.

Ok, it's not an MS3, but I thought it was cool none-the-less. While we were in Greece a couple weeks ago I walked by a Civic Type-R and since I was impressed I had to snap a few pics. Why don't they release these cars in the US?

As was stated earlier in the thread, the Mugen type R would be about 40k MSRP if brought into the states. To make you laugh even harder, I recall reading an article about the Mugen RR (yes they went a step further) that was released in Japan only because if brought to the states it would cost about 50k retail LOL. We American's are rather silly about things like cars, but not enough to pay 50k for a Civic, before aftermarket s*** that is.

nahh in person they do look a lot better than those pics made it out to be. now they still look like a turd or a short version of the new accord crosstrac or whatever

It's called the Crosstour and yes it is very ugly. I work at a Honda dealership so I can vouch for this. The only positive side to them is the fact that they have the 270hp also found in the Accord V6 6 speed. Not to mention AWD, which is every Civic owner's wet dream.

Haha. The new type-R is full of fail. Top gear did a comparo between the old and new. The new one is much slower. The handling is worse because Honda went cheapo on the suspension, adding a Torsion beam rear end instead of an independent rear. Its heavier, but they only added 1 hp more. c'mon. What fail. The standard Si is in better shape than the new R

yes it's slower in every way(not that many people who buy one will know that), but I wouldn't say that I got my factual information from a comedic automotive program. it's kind of like saying I watch MadTV for the news.

it's the old Acura AWD system, so kind kinda sucks and makes what was a decent FWD car into a very heavy FWD car that sometimes decided to send power to the rear wheels.

<--- love hondas, hate that type-r. the last really cool car that honda made was the type-r integras. rsx-s is ok, if your a college girl, the new si is decent, along with the s2k, especially the club racer edition (most fun car i have driven while working at honda) but that type-r, is weak.

Dear lord don't get me started on the S2k CR...

That's just as big of a waste of money as the Mugen. I saw one of those in person when they came out and it was just horrible looking. The wing, the upholstery, the body color...

I would rather take a normal s2k and dump a rediculous amount of money in it to make it a 40 thousand dollar car. Ya know there was an 05 s2k traded in at my work a few days ago with 500 miles on the odometer. I haven't seen it for myself yet.

Honestly I like the Mugen civics.. not their price.. but the body kit looks good. I honestly don't see the price premium when you don't get any sort of authentication for the option, and it's not like it's adding to resale since its just an aftermarket kit.

i would never buy one, but it was sure fun to drive. i kinda like the yellow seats. plus, the hard top is cool. definately agree with you about the mugen tho.

Yea my neighbor actually has the USDM Mugen Civic SI. It is a pretty decent looking car for a Civic, and I really like the wheels. But they were almost 30k MSRP in 08, and my dad buys cars at auctions, he told me they don't go for any more money than a normal SI. Now my neighbor is a chick, and she is pretty hot, but I really don't understand what she is doing.

Not only did she buy it new, but then she bought a jeep to drive in the winter. After she got sick of the jeep, she bought a new WRX hatchback to replace the jeep as her "winter beater". LOL when your winter beater is faster than your weekend warrior, you know you are wasting money. I would be surprised if she has put over 5k miles on the Mugen thus far. Apparently she thinks it has a high resale value.

wait till she finds out she's bought a PJ civic with a dealer installed body kit(or the equivalent rather). I don't think Honda's vin system even identifies it as a SI iirc.

Even tho Top Gear is funny, they still have the facts. Torsion beam is full of fail.
