Chrysler Recalls Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass for Sticking Accelerator Pedals

Chrysler is recalling the 2007 Dodge Caliber and 2007 Jeep Compass because their accelerator pedals could stick open, leading to unintended acceleration. The recall affects 25,336 vehicles.

NHTSA began investigating reports of sticking throttle pedals on the Caliber a month ago and Chrysler initially blamed faulty pedal assemblies from CTS Corporation, claiming that the Compass was not affected. CTS also produced the pedals blamed for Toyotas unintended acceleration problems. It now appears that the Compass, but not the Patriot, is included. The affected Compass and Caliber models are front-wheel-drivers and the Patriot is exclusively available with all-wheel drive.

The Caliber and Compass have brake override software that cuts engine power if both the brake and throttle pedals are depressed. Remember, if you ever experience a stuck throttle while driving, shift the transmission to neutral and brake to a stop without pumping the pedal.

They cant.. reaching down with one hand and pulling back the floor mat is to complicated..in the other hand they are somehow able to grab their cellphone and call 911.

It's not the pedals sticking. It's the crappy drive by wire systems that everyone is using.
They even said accelerator pedals could stick open, sounds like electrical issues to me. Everyone wants to blame the people who make the pedals instead of blaming their software or failsafe devices. I have seen problems with just about every drive by wire system.
