Christmas lights in my trunk? How?

OK, maybe a stupid question, and I'm actually asking about Halloween lights (they're purple!) for a "trunk or treat" event, but "Christmas lights" made more sense.

Anyway, what I am asking is: Is there a simple way to supply power to a couple of strings of incandescent (not LED) bulbs to the trunk of my car? Tapping off the battery with an inverter seems to make sense, but I have no experience with this, so any advice would be great.

Thanks!

Get a DC to AC power inverter from walmart and plug them into your cigarette lighter. sounds like the easiest way to me.

Thanks! I didn't know if such a thing existed, but I was hoping it did (I said it was a stupid question :) ).

MS6 owners don't need a smoke machine, the exhaust provides that free of charge!

+1 on the power inverter idea, no sense in tapping a wire for a temporary thing.

Just an update: the lights worked fine with a $30 150W inverter from Wal-Mart. I did decide to go with a smoke machine, but the one I had access to on short notice was a 1570W monster that we use to smoke up buildings (I'm a fire training officer). It puts out a non-toxic, non-irritating smoke (I've spent several eight hour days in it so thick that you can't see your hand in front of your face) but a couple of people still walked by coughing and acting pissed. No candy for them!

Whoops! Can't edit from work, so I should mention that I tapped into house service for the smoke machine, which had I known was available would have saved me the $30 bucks for the inverter.

Tough crowd! I didn't take any pics, but I can do some after-the-fact pics of the smoke machine, although video would be better...I used to think trunk or treat events were stupid, but as the father of a 5 year old and an 8 year old, the concept is growing on me: no traffic, better visibility (except when some jackass hooks up an industrial strength smoke machine...), no knocking on strangers' doors, less walking, kids see more of their friends. Some of them take the church element a little too far (no witches, or demons, etc., no freaking Harry Potter for Pete's sake), but the one we go to is cool with it.
