Chirping clutch

Ok, here's an attached diagram of the exhaust system. I just added an arrow pointing to the spring that you need to "service".

There are two nuts/bolts/springs that hold the downpipe to the second cat. I think that to be able to remove them you'll need to first remove the heatshield (3 screws, 10mm?) and the bracket that connects the downpipe to the engine (3 screws, 12 or 14mm? - be careful with these, the one that held the downpipe on mine was rusted so badly that I just broke it right off trying to remove it. No big deal, though, the bracket already kind of rests in a way that it supports the downpipe without that screw. If it won't rattle or make a sound then I'll be cool with it. But just make sure you soak all that stuff up with wd-40 or that stuff used to loosen screws/bolts).
For removing the nut that holds the spring you will need a 14mm deep socket.

If you happen to have the tools around I would suggest cleaning the springs real well with a sander or a dremmel sanding bit and then spraying them with high temp paint(just to protect from more rust) - that's if you have the time and tools to do it right. If I knew what the part # is for those springs I'd probably just order some new ones, but that might cost a bit, who knows.

Excellent write up man! I'll be under my car tonight looking at this. That noise has been bugging me for almost a year now. Thanks!
