The twin Malibus show off a new nose job and the new VVT 3900 V-6 with 240 hp and 241 lb-ft of torque. The Malibu SS will be available as the sedan and MAXX extended wheelbase 5-door. The transmission is a 4-speed auto with a manual shift mode and adaptive shift control. A 3.69 final drive ratio was included to give the Malibu SS more accelerating oomph. A new rear bumper with dual chrome exhaust tips and a rear spoiler adds to the SS look from the back and a new ebony colored interior with gun metal trim accents, new sport seats, three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather covered shifter knob round out the interior upgrades.

lol. Sounds like you were scolding it for existing.
Meh, it should be a decent car, if they can keep the price down. I dont know much about the 3900 engine, but am curious as hell.

*off to the 3800 boards*

typical GM.. even on its supposed "high end" models such as the SS, there is black plastic everywhere.

cars like this make me even less likely to buy a GM car. They just haven't realized that they're gonna have to stop making bland plastic crapboxes if they wanna catch up to the rest of the world. Just because enterprise buys their pieces of garbage, doesn't mean people will!

After having a Malibu as a rental car for almost 6 weeks this year, I...I have nothing to say here that the pictures don't already say for themselves.

I thought i read something a while back about these cars getting the honda 3.5 vtec, just like the vue redline. I guess this is not the case now. Well, with the vue redline, you don't have to worry about the engine's reliability, just all the other parts of it!

GM should be selling these SS's with the Honda 3.5 V6 or the new 2.8l turboed V6 from the Saab 9-3 Sportwagon. Its sad 240hp 3.9 V6, that can only compete with the regular Altima 3.5 SE and Accord V6. Some much for sport in the new SS! It does even come close to competing the Altima SE-R with it 3.5 V6 with 265hp.

GM needs to learn how to market a car with the right engine in all the segments. The only 2 cars Chevy sells that do not have this problem are the Vette and Cobalt SS.
